I start by creating a new file. I press: project -> new. The new file created in this way I saved on the desktop. It is important to save the file in a place that is easy to find later. Then the pane appears and I select the source language and the target language. After that I press "Copy files to source folder". Next I attach the file there (source text in doc.x format). 

The next step is to create a translation memory. To do this I open the folder of the project I created (which I saved on the desktop), then open a folder named "tm" and upload the file there. Next I return to OmegaT and press: project -> reload. Then I can see the created translation memory. This allows me to use OmegaT's feature of fast translation by using the translation memory in the next step. I use the keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+R and Ctrl+N. The first one means replacing the source text with the target text using the translation memory, and thanks to the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+N I can quickly go to the next segments. If you want to return to the previous segment, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+P. Then in the pane I right click on the file and press the "create target file" options.

Next, in the posted video, I demonstrate how to create a glossary. To do this I have to: select the word I want to add to the glossary -> right click -> click "Add to Glossary Entry". After that the pane appears “Create Glossary Entry” and  there is “Source term” and “Target term” that we need to complete.

The next step in OmegaT is to create the target text file. When the text has been translated and you want the final version, press Ctrl+D -> Ctrl+L. After creating the target file, I open the project file, open the "target" folder and change the file name from "Source Text" to "Target Text".

I learned that to create the dictionary first I have to extract the files in WinRAR. Then: I open the project folder -> I open the dictionary folder -> I put the extracted files there. After that I open OmegaT again and click "reload". The dictionary is located in the bottom left corner under the "dictionary" tab.

My Computer -> Disc C -> Users -> Folder with your username -> appDate -> Roaming -> OmegaT -> Spelling

In the OmegaT folder, it is essential that all files are named with the abbreviation of the language into which you are translating. After that we return to the OmegaT program and press in turn:

Options -> Preferences -> Spellchecker -> check that this option is selected: Automatically check the spelling of text -> Browse -> My Computer -> Disc C -> Users -> Folder with your username -> appDate -> Roaming -> OmegaT -> Spelling -> Open 

Then we have to reload the programme. 

I also learned that if we want to check all errors, we should press: Tools -> Check Issues…

Then we have to select issue types to check. A list of errors is then displayed.

project home -> term bases -> in the upper left corner "create new" -> then I enter the name of the TB (the languages are completed automatically by the programme, according to the way they were defined when the project was created); there are also other options to enter, such as domain, client, subject etc.-> OK -> the last step is to check that the box next to the newly created TB is ticked

Then I click OK, search for the saved dictionary in the list and select it to function. If I want to use the dictionary during translation I press: Review -> memoQ Web Search 

Ctrl+Shift+S – using this keyboard shortcut (after using Ctrl+Shift+A!) I can copy ST to TT (especially useful function in texts containing a lot of tags)

Ctrl+F – find in source and target of active document but not searching within tags. That is, if we want to find a word, that is what this search engine is for.

Ctrl+H – this shortcut is similar to Ctrl+F, but here I have an additional option which is very useful. Apart from the possibility to find a given word, there is also an option to replace a given word with another one. For example, if the word you want to replace is repeated several times in the text, you can do it quickly using this function (the same opportunity was given by the OmegaT).

It is worth mentioning that if we press Ctrl+F+F a window will appear, in which we also have the possibility of replacing a given word with another one.

There is also a "Mark all" option, which lets us know how many times a search term appears in the text.

With "Mark all" we can mark, for example, a word that we are not sure about and may want to come back to later. Once I have pressed "Mark all", I then have to press filter, then go to the "Status" tab and select "Marked by Find/Replace". As shown in the video there are lots of other useful options to tick there too. Then I press OK. Lightning bolts will appear in the segments with the previously searched word. This means that I have marked the word and I have to go back there before the translation is complete.
