I am really happy with how this project came out. I spent a long time on the abstract tree and I like how fluid it is. I wish I had better blended night and day in the top right corner. I like my use of animals to describe night and day although I do believe I could have added more detail to make them seem more realistic and have made it more three dimensional by making the tree bigger and the animals a little smaller. Like a foreground and background. I am not very happy with this project. I am proud of the girl and the way that she is presented but I had a lot of trouble with the background and how I should use that space. If I should use it as positive or negative space. I also had problems making this project more three dimensional. I wish I hadn't used as much water color as I did, especially in the background. Overall I am happy with this project. At the beginning I was apprehensive of trying new medias and creating different textures, but as the project went on I got excited to try the new medias. First I established a horizon line and sketched out the house more in the background and the pillars right in the foreground. Making sure lines were even and straight and that the pillars were predominantly in the foreground.
Step 2:
I started to go into detail of the abandoned house. Creating the windows and adding more dimension to the house, making it more three dimensional.
Step 3:
I added the paneling to the roof and house. I also boarded up some of the windows and created some gaps in the second floor balcony to give it more of an abandoned feel. I went into the pillars and did the brick work.
Step 4:
I added a hole to the roof of the house and made the chimney three dimensional. I also started adding the tops to the pillars.
Step 5:
I finished the tops of the pillars and went in with colored pencil. I also added vines to give the house more of the abandoned and old look. When I finished the colored pencil I created the gate with a black china pencil to make the gate and pillars be in the foreground.
