Several devices currently offer heart rate monitoring (i.e apple watch, fit-bit) so it is not groundbreaking. "The oximeter utilizes an electronic processor and a pair of small light-emitting diodes (LEDs) facing a photodiode through a translucent part of the patient's body, usually a fingertip or an earlobe" (Jubran, 2015). The design of this device does not emit light or encircle a portion of the body that would allow reception of the light.
