Matter is everywhere. Matter is something that has a mass and a volume. Mass is the weight of the matter. The volume is how much space the matter takes up. There are three phases of matter, solid, liquid, and gas. A solid is formed when all of the particles are attached or grouped together tightly. A liquid is when all of the particles and together but are not attached to each other as tightly as a solid. A gas is when all of the particles are all around the place and are not close together. Even though we cannot see the gases, it still has a mass and a volume. Gasses are all around us even if we cannot see it.Matter can change from one phase to another. For example when you freeze water, the water particles are closer together and form a solid. When you melt the ice then the particles are falling apart and create a liquid. When you boil the water then the particles break completely apart and form a gas called water vapor.

Everything in the world that has weight and volume is matter. Matter can be either solid liquid or gas. Matter is made up of tiny molecules and molecules are made of atoms. the molecules in a solid are tightly packed. The molecules in a liquid are more loose and can take any shape. Finally, the molecules in a gas are completely spread out and take up as much space as allowed.
I wonder how many types of matter there are? I know the man types are solid, liquid, and gas but what about the others?
I also wonder if solid, liquid, and gas are the main types of matter because they were the first one to be discovered.

Dry ice's temperature is -109.3 degrees Farenheit, and also if you combine it with hot water, it creates fog. Empty space is matter, and black holes are just humongous concentrations of matter packed into very tiny spaces. A black hole is so dense that it creates a gravitational pull so strong that nothing can escape past the event horizon, or the surface of the black hole. Not even light, which is not matter. Light is made of small packets called photons. Photons have no volume or mass. So, light is the radiation of energy, not matter.
