1. You feel invisible

It's easy to feel invisible when your parents always act as if they are too busy for you. Nobody seems to care or notice how you're doing, what you're feeling or what you have to say. You feel isolated, alone and insignificant.

2. You feel pressured

Have you ever felt crushing guilt, worthlessness, or even fear from not getting 100%?
Your family might be imposing conditions of worth on you, which is a toxic behavior.
A famous psychotherapist Carl Rogers, says the condition of worth means that you only feel loved and accepted by someone when you live up to their expectations of you. Parents are particularly guilty of this...
While they may initially believe they're doing it for your own good. They then escalate, setting unrealistically high standards for you with constant criticism for every perceived tiny mistake. This is Toxic...

3.You feel constantly unhappy being around them

We have our occasional bad days, days when being around anyone even your family is difficult. That's fine and it's not unhealthy. In a toxic familial situation, this feeling is fairly constant. In fact, you might say it's the norm with how you feel being around your family. They drag you down into their overwhelming and persistent negativity. They are always moaning about the unfairness of life even when good things happen. Since they can never let themselves be happy, you can't either.

Living with a toxic family puts your mental health at constant risk. Moving away from your family does not necessarily reverse the damaging effects.
So, if you are struggling to cut these people out of your life and create healthy boundaries for yourself, this is not wrong. In fact, this is healthy.

Do you notice signs of a toxic family in your situation?
You can learn more about signs of a toxic family from this video.

Guys, I'm sure, all of you had an experience of keeping secrets from your parents. Probably that was a feature of the age, of the stage of your relations or still a problem.
Can you share a secret you still haven't shared (or shared recently, but too late) and why you didn't do it.

!!!Only if you wish!!!

For example, I did a tattoo year ago and nobody from my family saw it, because they don't think tattoo is a good idea. And my younger sister hasn't seen it yet, because it might be a bad example for the young mind.

Love is family.

Today the traditional family structure is no longer a realistic social standard. It is becoming more common for same-sex couples or we can find a family part of which may consist of step-parents, step-children and step-siblings. The variety of family types proves that the family remains fundamentally important to people throughout their life. Why?

I am sure that love is to blame for this. You instantly think of unconditional love when you think of family. You lived in love as a child and as you get older, you are looking for the same source that will give you happiness, success, strength, support and care.

When there is love in the family, everyone is happy. As the English psychologist Joyce Brothers says: "When you look at your life, the greatest happiness are family happinesses."

Therefore, I urge each of you to think about expressing your love for your parents, grandmothers, brothers, second half or even pets more often than we usually do. We all need it, at least sometimes.
_____________________________________________________________
If you think that love is not about family, then write what love is for you.

Family or Individual Therapy?

Do you think going to a therapist is important?
There are distinct differences between family and individual therapy. The first difference between family and individual therapy is that while individual therapy involves one client being attended to by a single therapist, family therapist is involves many people.
In family therapy, there is the existence of long-term relationships and support from the family members. In the end, families are able to resolve problems and enhance cooperation. Individual therapy however helps the individual come to realization about his or her goals thus empowering the person to realize his or her full potential.
Individual therapy usually works well with persons who if treated in a group therapy such as family therapy would end up not focusing on the need to alter their behaviors for a healthier life.

This is unlike family therapy where the client is led to living a healthier life through support from family members.
Since a family is viewed as a system, family therapy is conceptualized as achieving the desired change through interactions made in the family

I think, when you have problems in your family, it's better going on therapy together, cause if you'll do it individually, maybe it will help and you'll change your behaviour, but your family member will not, so you'll still have family problems. When the therapist is working with you both,(or more) , you learn to support, understand each other and create harmony in your family, which is very important
