There are three parts of the exhibit located to the right, and you can on each to access that part of the exhibit:

  1. Local Death Records and Events: Examining the scope of the flu pandemic using three local timelines. One timeline features weekly news stories from local newspapers arranged chronologically from September 1918 through February 1919. Two timelines provide daily and monthly breakdowns of flu-related death records from September 1918 through January 1919 for Washington and Carter Counties.
  2. Hot Off the Press: Local press coverage of the influenza pandemic arranged topically. There are at least three examples for each topic with highlighted examples featuring interpretation and context.
  3. External Resources: Links to outside sources to place the influenza pandemic in a broader, national and international context.

Below you can find exhibit extras! 

  1. Teacher Resources: Question sets, assignments, and exhibit guides designed to help teachers and homeschool groups use the exhibit in the classroom. Assignments will help teachers and students navigate the exhibit while covering a variety of educational standards, and will also introduce students to broader historical context concepts and analysis skills. 
  2. Community Forum: A space for exhibit visitors to interact with the exhibit by posting their own experience with the 2020 Covid pandemic and their thoughts on this exhibit. 
  3. Map: An area map that shows the location for a few of the prominent areas from the exhibit such as Jonesborough, Greeneville, and Carter County.
