Christopher Oates died of a Heroin addiction and it all started with him abusing OxyCodone. Another child from his high school explained that all of the cool kids would go to these house parties and the OxyCodone would be out and available to use. They would crush it up and snort it. Christopher ended down the wrong path. After abusing high dosages of OxyCodone, it was not enough for him to experience the high he wanted. He turned to Heroin, which is another opioid but stronger.

Oxycodone on the Brain

Oycodone, just like any other opioid, interacts with the mu opioid receptors (MOR) in the body, brain, and spinal cord. When activated the receptors bring pain relief by interrupting the communication of nerve pain to the brain. The Oxycodone elevates the levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain which causes the person taking the OxyCodone to be in a very deep euphoric state. This causes the abuse potential to become so high.
