Overall the tone of the story is painful. Her vivid use of description or imagery allows the reader to feel her sense of fear due to her circumstance. A good example of this is when she talks about how her dad would sleep next to a pair of clothes which implies of he was ready to leave the house just incase he was obligated to go. Furthermore she also describes the wounds on her dads body with estimated measurements to emphasize how bad they were.
Argument:
The authors story depicts the love for their children. Her dad is seen as such a hero in the story because he was willing to give himself up just to provide his children protection by staying in the country.
