Their leadership slowly eroded by time and society and the challenges they faced.

In The Odyssey, Odysseus lead through trust and was followed for positive reasons, as opposed to the fear that was used by The Party and Big Brother in 1984. While both were effective leaders, one was positive and the other negative.

Both stories have a deeper meaning and I think comparing them will make a good analysis. I’m specifically going to dive deeper into common symbols in 1984 and how the connect to the odyssey as well as present day life. I also will compare the effectiveness of both leaders and how their different approaches effect the outcome of the story,

I was thinking about the use of leadership over a a nation and how leaders can utilize it to effect a society’s thoughts and options. In both 1984 and (multiple hitler ones I haven’t specifically chosen one yet) we can see how leaders when using there power in the wrong hands can manipulate ones reality simply but telling whats right and wrong. It helps show how abuse of power can change an entire society and rope them under ones rule with hardly a thought to rebel which can be possibly the most powerful tool of all. I could also (if you’ll allow me to try to do some connections not directly related to the prompt) relay how this can even relate to our modern day society, with the use of technology and data stealing. I really could have fun with this if you let me get creative with it.

I plan to write about how different forms of leadership can result in different kinds of results recognition and loyalty. In the poem Ozymandias this leader led with a lack of humbleness, and remorse. This led to him being forgotten and his nation being left in ruin. In the Odyssey, Odysseus led with strength and courage, but also kindness and loyalty. Odysseus ended up going down in history as an excellent example of what a leader should be.
