China and India thought similarly, thinking it was a big tortoise and a giant mole.<br>- The Lithosphere is the Earth's surface. It is very thin and broken into large fragments called plates.<br>-These plates move continuously&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;at a slow rate, moving just a few inches a year.<br>-When plates separate and&nbsp;increase in size through the cooling and hardening of molten material, slide against each other, or push directly against each other, they make rocks fracture which creates Earthquakes.</div>]]></description>

         <title>What the best way to protect  ourselves against Earthquakes?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="http://www.crew.org/what-you-can-do/protecting-yourself-and-your-family">http://www.crew.org/what-you-can-do/protecting-yourself-and-your-family</a><br><br>-Before the Earthquake happens, prepare for the next three days after the earthquake with a kit that has water, non-perishable food, first aid, and copies of any important documents.<br>-During the Earthquake, if you are indoors when you first feel the ground shake, drop to the floor, take cover under a strong, durable piece of furniture, or against an interior wall. Protect your head and arms with your neck. Avoid windows, hanging objects, mirrors, and tall furniture. Don't move from a safe spot until the ground stops shaking. If you are outside, get into the open. Stay away from tall building, trees, and power lines. Make sure to be alert for falling things such as rock that might have been loosened by the Earthquake.<br>-After the Earthquake, expect aftershocks, some of which might be big enough to do extra damage to weak structures. If you are somewhere near a beach, get to high ground as soon as the Earthquake is over to make sure you are safe in case there is a tsunami. Check your phone and other utilities,and be aware of other hazards such as utility lines, fallen objects, and damaged chimneys. Make sure to listen to the radio if there is one around for extra information.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>How do we study Earthquakes?</title>

Accessed 25 Oct. 2017.<br><br>-Seismometers record the seismic waves that the Earthquakes create.<br>- There are two types of waves: Body and Surface. Both types have sub types that stand for waves combining a special direction of propagation and direction of vibration.<br>-Body waves include Primary(P) waves and Secondary(S) waves.<br>-P waves are compression waves. They are like sound waves that push in pull in the same direction of the direction of propagation.<br>-S waves are called shear waves. These waves shake the ground side to side in a direction perpendicular to the direction of propagation.<br>-Seismometers can tell the difference between the different types of seismic waves. P waves are faster than S waves, so the P waves reach the seismometer first.<br>-If at least 3 seismometers are used, the data collected by those seismometers can determine where the earthquake is.</div>]]></description>
