Ethnocentrism is the idea of understanding and looks other cultures by comparing their cultures to your norms, belief, lifestyle, etiquette, and most importantly culture. (eg. racism)

- Examining other cultures as lower than yours because of their lifestyle (eg. What colonialists think of Africans)
- Think your culture is the best in the world and all people should bow to your culture (eg. What nazis think of them selfs)
- Thinking that other cultures are the worst and thinking they are degenerates (eg. What nazis think of Jews and Slavs)

What is Social Stratification?
Social stratification is similar to ethnocentrism in the sense of a strict hierarchy of peoples, but it is different from ethnocentrism as the hierarchy is not built on racial and cultural lines, and could include economic class and gender.

Examples of Social Stratification
- Thinking poor people can't be rich and are poor because they don't work hard enough. (eg. What most rich Victorians think of their workers)
- Men think women can't work hard and are limited to the house. (eg. What men in paternalistic societies think of women)
- Caste systems in which people are assigned to a certain profession by their birth, and are treated worst than people in upper castes. (eg. The Hindu traditional caste system in India)
