         <description><![CDATA[<div>Our issue is that we want to keep the extra curricular activities because we know that they are important to student growth and socializing. But we also know that having an inaccurate attendance list for the clubs and after school activities is a safety problem that we need to address, especially in today’s climate. According to Lenzi et al (2017), “When students have strong ties with school professionals (especially teachers) and their classmates, and perceive that school members are willing to help each other, students might feel more confident that they can ask for help, support, and protection when they feel they are in danger”. So by coming up with an attendance system that is accessible to all parties involved will improve the safety aspect of our issue and make it possible to keep the abundance of after school activities available for our students.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The setting of the implementation will be within the main office between the three secretaries who rotate staying after school until 5:30 pm each day. I will go over the use of the form with them. Show each of them how to export the form into a google spreadsheet. I will then show them how to create a new sheet within the spreadsheet so that they can organize the attendance by sheet each day for accurate record keeping. I will then also show them how to find a student’s name within the sheet without scrolling through each page. This will allow them to have an organized system, making their job easier.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Collecting data will come from a scheduled meeting with the office personnel one week into the proposed change.&nbsp;</li><li>I will also send out a survey to the staff, asking them the following questions:<ul><li>Has the new after school attendance been an easy change for you to implement into your club/sport? (yes or no)</li><li>Do you feel that you can use the attendance sheet for your own record keeping? (yes or no)</li><li>Do you have any suggestions/changes you feel would be beneficial to the attendance form/sheet?</li></ul></li><li>Then after another week of using the new program, I will also meet with my building principal to go over the google form and the results from the meeting with the office personnel and the survey so that we can make any necessary changes and he can share the results and positive impact at his building council meeting in hopes that the plan can be adopted amongst the whole district.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>At my school, we have an abundance of before and after school programming. The variety of clubs have given the students a social outlet as well as an opportunity to learn and try new things. We host service clubs, like National Junior Honor Society, social clubs like Cricut Club and a variety of sports. As a building, we have roughly 800 students enrolled at our school, with anywhere from 100-250 students who come before or after school to participate in extracurricular activities. These extra-curricular activities are important because as stated in this article, “Perhaps most importantly, students from all groups believed that their volunteering had led them to question some of their previous individualistic assumptions, primarily through coming to appreciate the benefits of what they perceived to be genuinely collaborative group work” (Brooks 2007).&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>In the past we have had club sponsors send paper attendance sheets to the main office to keep track of who is in the building and where. This has become a topic of contention between the sponsors and the main office as some attendance sheets do not make it to the office, some students do not fill it out and we have parents who are looking for their child and then clubs/sports are disrupted with an all call looking for a child who actually didn’t end of staying after school because their extracurricular isn’t actually hosted on that day after school and they are on their way home on the bus. It becomes quite the mess. Our administration team and leaders within the building are looking for a way to tighten up the after school attendance to help out the main office as well as have accurate attendance for all clubs and sports.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Reflection</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After implementing the new attendance google form for my “Bringing About Change” project, the building has seen an increase in clarity of where students are and when. It has taken the guesswork out of finding students, the paperwork out of organizing paper attendance and the stress out of answering parent phone calls when they are looking for their child. As the Cheer Coach, I use the attendance sheet daily for logging practice and game attendance, as well as the office uses it to keep track of cheerleaders for their parents. At the end of the year cheer party, we had the girls complete their attendance and then start to celebrate the end of the year. At the end of the party, the girls either went home or to other after school activities. A few girls went to musical practice. While I was on my way home, I received a phone call from my assistant principal asking me if I knew where one of the cheerleaders were as the form says they were last with me and their father was at the school looking for them. I did know that she was one of the cheerleaders who went to musical practice and had must’ve forgotten to complete the form a second time at musical practice. They did try an all call but the announcements are pretty muffled when they are practicing - so the form did its job as they were able to find their last known location and a teacher who knew exactly where to find them. It was very cool to see the google form in action with a student who was with me so that I could then reflect on its effectiveness.&nbsp;</div><div>After that incident, I went and discussed the usefulness of the form with the office staff as they are the most impacted and all comments made were positive. The office ladies loved how user friendly the google form is, they know how to edit it, if necessary and are just so jazzed about not having to keep a paper copy bin on their desks any more. The process feels very streamlined to them and they seem to appreciate it. I also met with my building principal and he is also pretty happy with the use of the google form and we are currently in the discussion of adding hall monitors to our building, so I went ahead and shared the idea about using a google form to keep track of when and where students are in the halls that was suggested by one of my classmates and he loved it! It will make it so much easier to keep track of the happenings within the building. We are definitely headed in the direction of using technology to make our lives easier!&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
