I really enjoyed watching the video. The strength and certainty of each word of Dr. Jeff was incredible and ignited in me the urgency to teach, to make known, the cultural DNA of each one, as a way to "cure" the uneven path that has been traced .
To see communities with a forest, and each of us like a tree, which only blooms and transforms if it knows its roots, is a transforming symbolism. This video made me aware of this global need, to know where everything began, my legacy, to contact difficulties and painful phenomena, but also with celebrations. We can only grow and develop as complete beings, if we know where we live ?, for thus, the way, where are we going? it is easier to tread with others.

Challenge- discovering our cultural stories is important to the mindset we carry forward in life but this story needs to expand beyond culture to include our stories of the social culture in communities such as the LGBTQ, visually impaired, hearing impaired, physical and mental impairment. Each story is important to understanding and realizing the collective identity we need in order to move for

Critical Pedagogy is something I was only recently introduced to during the NLT to the Philippines. I think it is something I inherently knew, but it was never names. I remember when I was a Fellow, thinking about this kind of thing- culture and the feeling that school was trying to drum it out- with my students. What this makes me think is that we need to root ourselves in who we are and where we came from. I was a history teacher as a Fellow, and I remember teaching the History of the US and realizing that the curriculum highlighted one voice or narrative. I, as a teacher, had to go back and find different experiences and understandings of the world to bring to my classroom. I wish I was more prepared with the kind of reading material and videos we are being exposed to now when I was a Fellow.

These readings and video were definitely a new discovery to me. Like i said before i dont really had much thinking about this topic, and because of that i undermined the importance of culture, history for the inequalities in society. So i think my biggest challenge after this is really get to know how cultural differences has developed through history in my country, and how has these shaped oppression, inequality. How can we see these phenomenons in our classrooms and schools.

The words by Dr. Jeff Duncan-Andrade really touched me when he gave the example of forest and trees without roots. The one take away for me from the resources I watched and read that it is really important to talk about history and culture. I have read somewhere, "If you want to control someone, tell them that they don't have history". While watching the videos, I am thinking of different ethnic groups in Nepal who have been told that they do not have long history.

I believe that one of the great challenges of working in a classroom environment is to understand the individualities and specificities of the students' backgrounds, seeking to meet everyone, while maintaining the schedule of classes and contents that need to be addressed. In this sense, it is important to follow techniques of interdisciplinarity, which requires certain skills of the teacher. I have no doubt that the process of belonging to a group is fundamental for cultural empowerment, performance and protagonism of the students, but I think that in more diverse classes the challenge increases considerably.

There were a lot of thing to think through. Stages of cultural competencies and understanding that sometimes we stop ourselves on the first stage. But being on 1st stage is not bad because it's already a beginning. And it's so important to move further. And to help and support our students. During the video I was thinking that our students come to our classroom to learn values, to grow as human and it's an important part of learning environment. I'll definitely continue to discover this topic
