The last fact I learned was Earth's surface is 70% ocean that averages at 2.5 miles deep. These are the three most interesting facts I learned from reading this article. The article I read is 50 Years of Earth Day: What’s Better Today, and What’s Worse, from the New York Times. It is about 10 things that are good in the world, and 10 not so great things about the world. I found this article to be very fascinating, and it was interesting to read how our world is healing, verses how our world is slowly being ruined, some of which is because of human interactions. One thing that really stuck out to me was that about four years ago, a new threat surfaced our Earth. And this huge threat, that would change our earth for good, was caused by hair spray. Yes, hair spray. The stuff women use typically on a daily bases. And this hair spray caused a hole in the ozone layer. That was a huge discovery since the ozone layer has a big impact on the earth, and now it is healing! Another thing that really stuck out to me is that people actually feared mass starvation during this decade, which never actually happened. This stuck out to me because I never heard of that, but I understand why people thought that because climate change and global warming is a very serious thing, and mass starvation does sound like a threat in the near future. The last thing that stuck out to me was America’s air has gotten more clear, with much less pollution, but sadly the rest of the world’s air remains the same, yet coronavirus seems to be helping with pollution, for example Italy’s waters have been much cleaner since no one is polluting them. 1.  The inner core of Earth is a solid sphere made of molten iron and nickel about 759 miles  in radius. 

2.  The Earth formed when gravity pulled swirling gas and dust in to form the planet. 

3. Our planet's rapid spinning and molten core create a magnetic field, which solar winds distort into a teardrop shape in space. When  particles from solar winds get trapped in Earth's magnetic field, they collide with air molecules above Earth's magnetic poles. These molecules then glow and cause the northern and southern lights.
