Just a Minute tells the story of the day Grandma Beetle gets a visit from Señor Calavera, a skeleton that wants her to come with him. She agrees, but not before preparing for her birthday party first. With her birthday party being a huge success, Señor Calavera disappears, leaving a note behind to tell Grandma Beetle that he’s looking forward to her birthday party next year.

This book is valuable in the world of children's literature because every page of the book was beautifully illustrated and the vibrant contrasting backgrounds made each scene pop out.

The book manages to go from a rather dark tone of it being the grandmother’s time to pass, to a very heart-warming and happy one, which embodies the theme of family and love.
