I had to redo this 4 times because I made my rectangle too small or I mushed down the clay too much before rolling it. I slipped all of the edges thoroughly and made sure that all the sides were even.

I started the outline of my trunk, I used the roller and cut 3 sides. I plan on adding roots to one of the ends and tree branches on the other, the tree branches and roots also sticking out randomly.

Since my last attempt did not work, because it was not stable enough. I made a solid figure and sculpted it into something that resembles a log, this will allow me to attach branches and roots.

I hollowed out the tree trunk, in some areas I made it too thin and had to put clay back in. I accidentally put it in half when trying to move it. I also made a tree branch with the idea of the video used for the elephant trunk, I had to redo the branch after I messed up a couple of times.

I put newspaper under the log to make it look circular and to give it support underneath. I also made a branch using the tactic of the elephant trunk.

I attached the tree branch after cutting off 1/3 of it to make the size proportionate. I also made a smaller branch to attach at the top to make it look more like a tree. These branches are going to be on the dead side.

I added another tree branch to the larger branch, I also poked holes in the tree branches to make air pockets to ensure even if the clay is too thick it won't explode.

I took off the branches and made the air holes connecting to the log. I then re attached them and added texture to where they were attached to the log. With the help of my table group I put the log onto my slab, however I had to lift it back up after slipping and scoring because there were no supports, so later I have to slip and score it again.

I slipped and scored down the trunk and moved the support systems underneath to not be as thick so they won't explode. I also made holes in the bottom of the wall relief so there are no air pockets.

I attached the first root and made it look like it was growing onto the background, I also made another root and made a hole where I will put it. I repaired the branches that were made as they were cracking. I messed up 4 times trying to make the second root.

Today I added 3 smaller branches onto the larger branches. I also added another larger branch in the center with a small branch on it as well as I made a support structure. I added definition and changed the layers for it to look more like a tree. I added another root and changed the bottom to be smoother. I also added a section where it seems that a branch had been taken off. While adding definition at the bottom near the roots, it was to thin and a hole was made, I smoothed out the surface and added a thin layer over the whole and smoothed out the ends to fix it.

I narrowed out the branches to make them look more like a real tree rather than in a movie. I tried to fix cracks in the branches and added more support structures. I also added holes underneath the thick branches to add more air into them just in case they are too thick. I also tried to add another branch but I messed up multiple times, I was unable to attach it.

I added the last roots and poked air holes into them, I also moved the roots around and made more elevation and indents into the trunk around the bottom. I started to create the branches that will have leafs on them.

I added one last root at the bottom to fill in the open space and I also moved on the root to make it look more real, as well as made more indent in the bottom trunk. I also added leaves to the wall relief, to the side that will be alive. I also added one branch to the log that will later have leaves on it. I plan on adding leaves by putting a sponge into slip.

I made slip, and got old sponges to break apart and use as leaves. I soaked the sponges in the slip and then started to wrap them around pieces of the branches on one side.

I used brushes to go along the branches, log, and edges of the base to get rid of any uneven edges and boogers. I then broke up the sponges and soaked them into the slip to make the leaves. One of the branches broke because it is leather hard so it is being held together by the leaves. I also had to make more slip. The leaves do not look real so I will use a different method and add onto them. I also smoothed the lines on the leaves on the side to make them look more realistic.

I brain stormed a new way to make the leaves look better. I added more sponges to make more area. I then asked Mr. Stout for help and he gave me some type of paper and other things mixed together. I added it into slip and used a wooden knife to put it on the sponges which made it look more like leaves growing out.

I started to add more of the paper stuff to the sponges and I removed some of the support structures. I finished mixing up the slip and the paper stuff and made a new mixture.

I removed the rest of the support structures and put more paper on sponges that I missed in hidden areas. I started to add slip onto the log, at first I used coral but it was not effective so I went and got some wood chips and used them instead, I coated the gald of the log in slip and added texture. I also added detail in the area where a branch would have been.

I have almost finished coasting the lot with slip and tapping a piece of bark on it to make the design, it is very difficult to get into tight spaces. especially around the tree branches and even on the tree branches it is hard to make a design.

I finished putting on the slip and then adding the texture. It was very difficult to reach so I had to get a new piece of wood to reach into the crevasses.

Life has its ups and downs, I am aware of that. I feel alive and sprawled out at times and dead and wilted during others. Like a tree burning down I feel that life is burning away. The fire is difficult to control and almost impossible to put out. I struggle to understand why the tree is still standing even through all the torment. The tree's roots grow with every passing day, searching for a place to settle. Maybe someday they will, and the tree will finally be able to grow.

I cut out the base a week ago, but I could not figure out what to do. I had the idea to make bullet casing and stack them but it was difficult to mold them. So I went back to my first idea to make a staircase type of art piece where slabs stack on top of each other, they are different sizes. I cut out squares and rectangles in the slab and will use the latter. I am stacking the pieces with cutouts in the middle in a staircase motion.

I cut out the largest squares I could out of rolled out pieces of clay. Then I have been laying them on top of the other pieces to make it look like a staircase. I scored and slipped them down then made it look like the pieces of clay were separated.

I have been repeating the process, however this time I used the squares from the other pieces that I cut out and then slipped and scored them down. The order has been random and will grow and shrink in sizes and in directions.

I rolled out more clay and cut them into squares which i then placed onto the other ones and cut holes into them, keeping the middle piece for later use. The bigger pieces started to droop over the edges so I added support.

I used the small squares, the holes from other squares and started to tack them to make it smaller, I moved some of the support structures as the piece got harder and it needed support in other places.

I kept rolling out slabs and cutting them into squares. I used as many of the small squares as possible to get to the height requirements. I also sealed all of the slabs on the inside and tried to make it look like they were separated on the outside. I got rushed and was not able to smooth out some of the outside but will do it later.

It is a staircase-like piece of artwork that is hollow all the way through, the squares used are all different sizes and shapes that are articulated in all different types of ways.

I got a block of clay, which was almost my whole bag. I rolled it out and then turned it into a box and shaped it by hitting it with my arm, I then used the rolling pin to create a slope, which took two tries. I used the measuring tool and thought I had enough space. I then put my hand on the clay and traced my left hand with the needle tool. I went in with a knife after and slowly cut sections off to make a blocky hand. I was then told by Mr Stout that I had double the clay I needed, so I used the wire tool to cut it into a smaller hand careful not to shave off too much. I then used a tool to shave off the corners of the hand to make it look more round. I was scared to shave off too much. I then started to add clay onto my fingers where needed. And finally started to make the fingers circular by pinching them, I had to reshape them as some got very long. I added and shaved off clay as I went, putting some on the sections of my fingers that connected to the hand and the top and middle of the fingers. I also shaped my thumb so it had the hitch hikers thumb.

U then used a needle tool to measure the length of each nail, which I then pushed into the tips of eh fingers.

I used wet towel to get moisture back into the hand and the fingers broke off. I tried to round the finger nails again. I also started to subtract cla around the wrist and the webbing around the fingers. I think I am starting to like the hand because of he added depth but I think th fingers look weird and I need to add more clay because they are to thin.

Today I reattached all of the digits as the fell off due to the towel. I also added more volume onto the digits in the areas where they bend I also cut out the webbing and cut some of the wrist off because it was too thick. I was reshaped by the nails. Mr. Stout moved the fingers around and made them look a lot better and I feel more confident about them. I also added volume onto the thumb and in the palm.

I moved the fingers into place by cutting divots into where the fingers would bend. I then filled in the spaces. I then went back and added volume and some of the minors on the hands that are impacted by the bending of the fingers. I also added volume on the bending points of the fingers.

I left out my hand for a day, before i tried to smooth it out with a sponge which made slip and then dried. today I went back and used my hand as a reference for making the minors, i used a needle tool and tried to make the lines not deep and go different directions to make it realistic

This was the bowl that I made. I followed Mr. Stout's instructions. I made the clay into a ball then rolled the bottom on the table. I then put it onto the spinning wheel in the center and packed it down. I then started to make it even on all sides and patted it down. I then created a hole in the center using my thumbs and pinched the sides to expand them and make them smooth. I used the sponge at the bottom to make a holder for a bowl. I then used the sponge to even out the surface and shape it the way I wanted too. I then let it dry out and then used a ribbon tool to shave off the bottom of the bowl.

I slabbed rolled out the bottom and cut it into a circle. I then used a large circle of clay and used a tube to get out the center. I then shaved off half of the other circle and made two identical ones. I then attached it to the slab in the center.

I slipped and scored down the cone with a hole in the top. I also have tried different methods of fire but nothing has worked.

I got a ball of clay and flipped it on the desk to get an even spread. I then used a model on my phone and traced the outline into fire. I then shaved off the sides to make it look more like a fire. I had to add clay to certain sections as it did not look accurate. I plan on adding volume to the fire.

After Mr. Stout showed me a better way to make fire I redid the dire I had been working on. I made a slab and made the bottom flat. I then made the sides flat and not thick. I then shaped the ends and cut out shapes to make it 3D. I then shaped them and made them poke out.

I started to use a rolling pin to shape the flames before I out them on, I later figured out I should have tilted them prior to rather then leaving them straight because they then broke.

I had to restart multiple times because it hardened in a bad location and then I don't like the shape, so I have continued to try and I secured the rolling pin down better so it wouldn't move as well as but the flames into he correct location.

I used Mr. Stouts advice and did lots of sections connected together. however they look more like leaves and I think that I should have connected the smaller flames on the other side as well as added textures to both sides.

The first day I got 3 layers on but didn't have enough on the side and didn't have any going off the mask. The next day I finished coating the whole ask and made it said so I didn't see through it and couldn't bend it. I also heavily coated the sides and made the paper run off.

I wheat pasted the mask onto the center of the cardboard background and left it to harden.

I used a sharpie and traced a line down the middle of the paper mask. I then used an exacto knife to cut through that line. Finally I stuck the cardboard side view of the T-rex into the slot made.

I build up slightly around the base and establish a line that cannot be cross on the base with crumpled up newspaper. I taped down the newspaper with masking tape going up and down onto the cardboard to hold it as well as taping it across to hold it against other news paper.

I started to coat the outside with newspaper to make it flat. I have done the upper jaw and most of the base. I still need to do the lower jaw and wrap under the mask.

I ran out of newspaper and used the large pieces of paper as a fill in. I used them to fill in the bottom of the mask and attach it to the back. I also listened to Mr. Stout and started to fill in pieces that are loose or can be caved in easier.

I started to fill in the sections that caved in a little and made sure that all of the mask would be a solid surface. It has also started to take the form of a T-rex rather than shark.

I have continued to wrap around the edges and tried to create a hard surface to built up on. Certain areas are weaker than others and I'm trying to put more layers onto them. Mr. Stout also told me to put a layer of wheat paste on the mask before I let it go because the it hardens the mask better.

I the applied glue to areas that were weaker. as well as added extra newspaper as a layer on the mouth and sealed it with glue and other pieces of newspaper.

I made it so the upper jaw was covered with newspaper. Ilaso cut out the center of the mouth and made a divoit for the throat. I have considered making it into a trout instead because It would be too difficult to make a dinosaur and I don't have time.

I Balled up a piece of newspaper and put th, on the tip of each jaw, because I am now making a salmon. I then covered the balls up with newspaper. I also covered some of the mouth.

Earlier I added gills and eyes on either side. I also added the teeth but was told by Mr Stout that it would look better if we used something else so I took them off. I also made the gills unsymmetrical so I had to use the cardboard cutter again and change both of the sides

In this picture I completed the layer of plaster on the mask and am waiting for it to dry.

Mr Stout told me that painting the salmon like a T-rex would look like a cartoon, so he had me make egg white to paint over the green. I almost got eveyr section.

I finished Applying the egg white plaster, however some areas need to be gone over again. I reapplied all the paint.

I finished the final coat of egg white and made sure there was no green.

I mixed some green paint with white brown and yellow to make army green. I then coated the top of the mask, where Mr. Stout advised me to go over with a sponge in some areas and make a contrast on colors.

I mirrored what I did on one side to the other. I also mixed up pink paint and painted the inside of the mouth. I also did a lot of blending with the greens and tried to finish painting everything.

I finished painting everything and added two layers so there is no more white popping though. I am going to begin the crafting stage after thinking about what I need to add.
