In our group there is 2 rappers and 1 singer. At first we found this concept difficult as our song choices became very limited, also our taste in music was very different with a variety of rap/pop, grime/R&B and indie. In the end we managed to fuse all of our styles together and come up with 3 covers (Stereo heart, Don't go and counting stars with our own twist) then finally 1 original. Connor and toby are going to be writing their own verses and I'm going to be singing the chorus. we all defiantly have weakness on this project as I think all of us as solo artists are set in stone with what we want to accomplish and what style we want to go about it with, but I also think we have a strength that beats all the weakness; were open to learning and as soon as we accepted that we all became the artist within ourselves. we explored many genres with this project, we also fussed genres together:
counting stars - pop/ charts with our fusion of rap
Stereo heart - Alternative/ Metal, Alternative Rock
Don't go - Rap / Hip-Hop, Modern Rap & Hip-Hop

We wrote a song about a stimulus we were given, this stimulus was a cartoon strip featuring a lorry following a woman in a car looking very anxious. our lyrics were very self explanatory as they were shadowing her emotions telling her what to do as she fights her way though anxiety against the lorry. we wanted the chorus to be a lot more fuller and a faster tempo than the rest of the song as this is when our climax of the story begins we used call and response to embody this as we all tried to put ourselves in her situation and we all had different things to say nobody could agree so we decided to go with, if she has so many possible thoughts or emotions there never can be just one underlining factor of what she feels so we thought the chorus could be the confusion and frustration she feels as so many emotions and thoughts go through her mind this is why we have 3 singers on the chorus each singer representing a different emotion as with the call and response we have them all singing at the same time. Me and Georgia wrote the lyrics and sing, luke plays guitar, George plays bass and Daniel plays some percussion and sings in the chorus. Our ulterior motive for our song was to portray the paranoia and confusion that defines this character in the scene. shes lost and doesn't know which way to go like in the lyrics "where should I go" is not literal but metaphorical to her thoughts which one should she stick with and see out because one of them will eventually take her the right way. we also wanted the lorry to resemble a past unwanted memory following her or a past guilt. I liked the group I was in because we used our weaknesses to create a strength.

In my group there was Jack on the drums Ed on guitar also Fraser on guitar me singing and Connor who opted out in the performance we decided to do our song about deception how someone can show one persona but feel another we wanted our song to be kind of low and sad there were 2 guitar solos in the whole song but I found it really difficult to know when to come in and when to finish as it was a lot to take in for how long we had it would have probably been a little easier if I Connor would have co-operate in what we were doing I don't want to be mean but a lot of the time I was asking if he was going to do anything as I had to build what I was doing around his part too if he was joining in but he kept saying I don't know though the whole thing so I didn't really know where I stood and at the last moment Connor was gonna have a verse but then said he didn't want to do it even when I told him we wont have anything for it so in the last 5 minuets before we had to perform I have to write a whole new verse and try to make it fit into something he was going to do. I also did struggle with the timing as I was a bit lost on the beats and counting them I would always lose track. we wanted the music to portray the story as well so we have a kind of up beat chord progression but the lyrics are very sad and low so we have a juxtaposition to show the contrast between the two elements of the song if I was to do it again I would defiantly of sang in a tone higher as you can really hear me but if I was to try and put that into something to talk about with in the story we were trying to create the chords were drowning out the vocal almost saying the things you see most the persona is what's forced on you there not the real intentions were as there's always a quiet voice that tell the person what's actually going on behind all the chaos the stimulus behind this the thing that inspired this was the media and the news articles the song was going to be a metaphor for the way things get twisted and the truth always gets hidden but the media sugar coating it but there is always a underlining truth that gets pushed away we turned this into a persons actions and ways and came out with this idea of a song.

This song was about not being loved and being in a one sided love so you could say its about being venerable the chord progression was Dm, F, A, Dm x2 Cm, G x2 it was a lot harder as there was only two of us so the ideas were coming as fast so it took us some time to put this together but I think it didn't turn out so bad but the performance ended up going kind of bad as we messed up a bit but our song was focused around love and how it can be painful the lyrics were about moving on but still feeling the pain as if they the person you loved was still there and reliving them emotions I chose to play them chords because they were melancholy and sounded deep almost like a bass this is to foreshadow the weight of the remaining feelings.

For this lesson I wrote a song about my feeling towards some emotions I have the chord progression is G, Em, Am, D I pick the verse because this is things I actually think them the faster passed strum is because its showing more of a faster passed thinking as the carnival ride is always going round so I'm using that as a metaphor to say the things that happen between us just keep coming back up we resolve them and then we go back to the start so like a carousel it keeps going round and around I also wanted the motif of a music box I was trying to make you image a music box they go around like a carousel and they play music i wanted to show that I was the ballerina in the music box playing this sweet music which infers to me trying to make people happy and say what they want to hear but the ballerina is still going around and around continuing to play this music and never stopping till the person making you play this music makes you stop but I also wanted to say what happens after the music stops the lid goes back down and your not seen not seen till you play this continuous music over and over again which again can only be played if the carrier opens the lid .
i wanted this to be a meaning full song that not many people would understand but I wanted people to hear this song and put there own story to it that way they can relate I want them to have a story a way to release so every person has a different view may it be happy or sad.
