He also has a lot of hardships so I think that he wants to focus that at people instead of keeping it to himself. He also doesn't want to be beaten up as well so the safety of the cage helps him because it protects him from being beaten up. This is evident in one excerpt from the beginning of the story which shows his interest of the job and it was 'I wanted to scream and shout at the world from the safety of a cage.
