the lottery where it’s usually someone winning but in the story something bad happens and it’s when tessie dies. the rich can have more say in the lottery and they can bribe their way out with money. in the lottery also shows situational irony because at the beginning tessies son were picking up a stones and those stores were used to kill tessie in the end

POV and Characterization of Tessie.

POV: We have a 3rd person POV, in which lets us view what the characters are saying and doing. But we cannot hear their thoughts, meaning we don’t know what they know about the lottery. It adds a sense of suspense because we would assume that a lottery is a good thing. But instead Tessie gets stoned to death.

Characterization Of Tessie: She doesn’t think the lottery is fair but only because she was picked. She challenges this multiple times by saying that Mr. Summers didn’t allow for her husband to pick the correct slip. She goes unquestioned with her view on the lottery. She thinks it’s a good thing, but only when she is not picked. She thinks it’s bad when she is picked. This does not make her a sympathetic character, she even tried to get her daughter in the final draw to up her chances of not being picked.

The story starts with the exposition in which the kids including Bobby Martin, Harry Jones and Dickie Delacroix fill their pockets with rocks for later. After the exposition comes the rising action when Mr. Summers brings out the black box to start the lottery. The Climax is the moment Mr. Hutchonson picked the paper for his family that ended up having a dot on it. During the falling action Tessie Hutchonson pleads for her life to no prevail. The story resolves with the stoning of Tessie Hutchonson.
