He was extremely passionate about science and made the subject interesting. That teacher is my sister, Megan. She has been a teacher for over 13 years and she constantly amazes me but it was in March that I was blown away by her dedication to her students. When schools shut down and everything went to remote learning, she never wavered. She was logged in everyday talking to her students. She made sure that she met with them everyday in groups and multiple times a week personally. When a child struggled she would go to their house and sit in the back of her car while they sat in a chair across the driveway and help them with whatever they needed. She gets to know her kids and their families on a personal level so she can teach the individual student not just the classroom. I had a speech impediment and I struggled through school with reading and comprehension. I didn`t like going to school, because I had a hard time reading/ talking infornt of people and I would just get frustrated with any reading assignments. We did find out I had to wear reading glasses when I was in second grade, but I never wanted to wear them and none of my teachers made me wear them, until Mr.Mckinny. I met him during summer school to work on reading and then I had him as a teacher that following year. He worked with me on reading and he always made time to help me with assignments that I struggling with and spent time teaching me, so I would understand the material that I was reading. I gained a lot of confidence in his class that year and I improved in my academics overall. When I left fourth grade I have been on the honor roll ever since and Mr.Mckinny gave me huge confidence while I was in school. He inspires me to be the type of teacher that helps students gain their confidence when they are struggling in a subject. He conducted his classroom in a fun manor while also making it extremely fun. We went on so many field trips where he taught us so much more than what was in a textbook. Not only was he a great teacher, but a great person as well. He always had advice to give for school and life. He taught his students to speak confidently, not to fish for compliments, and not to be like everyone else. I can never forget when he told me to not be like them ("them" being my immature and misbehaving classmates). I had no clue what he meant at the time but I understand it now. He was always there to help in anyway he could. I always learned things pretty quickly so when I did not understand something, I got frustrated, but he took the time to help me. I am not much of a book worm and I do not love writing but she always created assignments that were engaging and had great assistance through the process. I admired her preparation for each lesson. She had a clear schedule for the school year and knew the supplemental videos and handouts to go with those units. She made an effort to see where each student was at and help them fully understand her lessons. She did have several years of experience that I'm sure helped her gain a good understanding of how she wanted classes to go. decided I wanted to become a teacher, it all reflects back on my sixth grade teacher Mrs. Reitz. What can I say about this woman that probably hasn't already been said. She was the definition of just a fantastic teacher. Everyone loved and adored her and parents sent in letters demanding her to be their children's teacher. All of that attention  was for a reason. Mrs. Reitz cared about her students as a classroom and individually. She constantly showed passion and patience in her many years of teaching. She fought cancer twice while teaching and was constantly not feeling well or experiencing major hot flashes. That never stopped her and she was constantly pushing herself harder than she was the students. This will always be the teacher that inspired me to become a teacher because even just. a smile and a positive attitude each and every day can so drastically change a child's day to day life. I came into my first college math class dreading it because in high school I was not good at math, and couldn't understand it no matter how hard I tried. 
Somehow my college math teacher changed that negative mindset. Not only did she care about her students succeeding, but  she had a passion for math. I fed off of her passion for math in how much she loved it. She explained algebra so well, that algebra in that class clicked quickly and I understood what I was doing. She made time to go over student's questions, and expressed her love for math. Since then I have enjoyed math, and understood it more quickly. I walked into that class hating math and not understanding it, to walking out loving math and understanding it. That is the effect I want to have on my students. That is what a teacher does. There is one that stands out the most in my memory and was the most influential hands down. His name was Mr. Grammens. He was my science teacher and actually ended up being my basketball course over 20 years ago. I was the typical underachieving student, and I did not apply myself or take my classes seriously. So much so, that when graduation came, I was 1/2 credit short of graduating. As a teenager, I did not have a strong family support system. My parents did not put any emphasis on completing high school, and after I failed to graduate, I decided not to go back to finish and get a diploma. At the end of the summer I was working at a local hotel when I got a call at the front desk. It was Mr. Grammens. We spoke for a few minutes, and he convinced me that I should come back and finish school. So I did, and it was the best decision I ever made. has to be my freshman year earth science teach Mr. Webb. It was his first year teaching but it seemed like it was just natural. He cared about everyone of his students and treated everyone with respect. His classes were always fun and he was always getting us excited for new topics or fun activities he'd have us do. She not only wanted to help grow and expand our knowledge as students but to also grow and expand as people. As I got older, around 10 years old, she would at times ask me to take over a lesson if she ever had to step out of the room. Me, a 10 year old teaching a lesson to students who were older than me. It gave me some street cred in the halls.
