Jermaine Lammar Cole was born January 28th 1985 at US army base in Frankfurt. His dad soon left him causing his mother to move in with the dads older brother Zach in a trailer park also struggling. His mom eventually remarried and the family moved into a nicer home, However the marrige crumbled and the family lost the house as cole was leaving for college. His stepfather had become abusive but mostly towards Zach and after the marriage ended coles mom became addicted to crack. Soon coles passion for music started happening and he joined a little group as a violin. He had many part time jobs while he worked on his rapping skills and production skills, he soon released his debut mixtape "The Come Up" in 2007 but a track in his second mixtape came to attention to the producer Mark Pitts who played it to Jay z and later on getting signed to Roc nation.

i think for the most part the song covers his own insecurities with what could go wrong and how he could feel embarrassed and ashamed if he felt like he couldn't keep up with that image of being a pro. But when she reveals she's a virgin as well, you realise that she's going through the same thing and feeling the same feelings that he is (the female version of course). Behind these walls that they put up, they're just kids who want to be seen, heard and loved without judgement. Behind our own walls, we're exactly the same too.

A lyric that really inspires me is “If they don’t know your dreams then they can’t shoot ‘em down", a lyric in "Too Deep For The Intro ( Friday Night Lights)" this bar has special meaning to people , who often find themselves with dreams or goals that many feel are out of reach for them. Cole himself has been vocal about never telling anyone in school he rapped. So basically just focus on yourself and don't let other people try to bring you down.

In an interview when questioned about his biggest inspirations, Cole responded, “I got a whole list of people who are the reason why I’m here my north stars that I look up to. He continued, “Obviously, Pac, Jay, Nas, Eminem, André 3000, Lil Wayne. And these are obviously the big bullets.” However, there were also some less prominent MCs that impacted him and who he has been inspired by. Some of these lyricists included Detroit’s Royce da 5’9″ and Jamaica’s Canibus. Opening up about these figures, Cole stated, “I had Royce the 5’9 moments. I had Canibus moments.”
