The President and Supreme court Justice goes through the same two step process of impeachment. First the house votes on whether he or she should be impeached, and with a simple majority the Impeachment claim moves to something similar to a trial. The Senate convenes and for the proceedings and vote to convict. If then 2/3 of the senate vote to convict said President or Justice is then removed from office. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton are the only two presidents to be impeached. The House has, in the course of federal history, impeached 13 judges and the Senate has convicted and removed eight. Of those convicted, seven were district judges.
12.4.1
