Shelley uses multiple examples of revenge in the text of Frankenstein. One of the early examples of revenge involve the monster killing Frankenstein's brother. He does this as a means of punishment towards Frankenstein because he is angry that Frankenstein created and abandoned him. He then goes on to devise a ruse in which he frames Justine for the murder because he sees her sleeping and assumes that she would ridicule her if she were awake. In this case, he is exacting revenge before any act has been committed. Another example of revenge was when he destroyed the cottage where he had been hiding out. He was so enraged by his treatment that he acted violently to relay his emotions.

If the monster is not lonely he probably will not seek companionship from humans and scare them. If Frankenstein creates a companion for the monster his family will also be much safer. In conclusion if the monster has a mate he will cause much less problems.

All of the problems in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein have stemmed from the monster feeling lonely and rejected. His want for a companion was so strong that it led him to kidnap Frankenstein's little brother. If Frankenstein created a mate for the monster, maybe the monster could find some peace and go live with his mate in the mountains somewhere. It would hopefully keep the monster from tormenting anymore humans while seeking companionship and prevent any more fighting.

The main concern would be that the monsters could produce offspring. If both monsters paired together and turned evil then they could wreak havoc and kill people.

In Frankenstein, the concept of revenge is demonstrated with acts made out of hatred and anger. It is seen as reasonable. Like one gets revenge because the other deserved it. With the monster, many would think gave the De Lacey family what they deserved by burning their house when it is not like that. He was angry because of the way they treated him. He felt the need to get back at them. When he killed Ernest he felt anger. It was not right that he killed the brother but was seen necessary because he felt a bit angry. Revenge seems to be normalized in Frankenstein, enhancing the gothic element.

He would probably be less likely to act out and destroy things because he would have some place to put all of his emotions. If he had someone who was more like him, he would have someone with whom to communicate and interact. In chapter 15, the monster exhibited not only rage at his creator, but a want for revenge on the entire rest of mankind due to not being received well by the family in the cottage, the little girl's dad, and Frankenstein's little brother. If he were to have a companion, he might want to take revenge on every human he comes across and use his companion to wreak double the havoc. Even if he no longer wanted to destroy humans after getting a mate, the new monster's personality would be very unpredictable and could end up worse than the first monster.

The biggest drawback of creating a mate is that we are dealing with too many unknown entities. If there were TWO of these creatures, they could potentially cause twice the injury or destruction because their emotions could be compounded. Also, since this is all a scientific experiment, there can be no certainty regarding what would happen if these two creatures were to mate. Could they produce an entire race of creatures that would seek to angrily destroy mankind because they were not accepted? There are too many variables in this equation.

Isolation is one of the driving concepts in this story. In the beginning part of this tale, Robert Walton sets himself up as an isolated man who is searching for intellectual nirvana when he comes across Dr. Frankenstein. In Frankenstein's earliest stories, he describes himself as a student who had a singular purpose of creating life from nothing. He was completely alone in these pursuits, and it pushed him to the brink of madness. Now, the monster is alone and pining for a mate because he has no one to love or interact with.

Mary W. Shelley presents the motif of isolationism all throughout the novel "Frankenstein". The monster created by Victor instantly is alone when he is brought into this world. The moment from birth and until this point he is alone. Every time he reaches out for some companionship he is left with screams of horror from people who do not know him. Isolationism is a big factor in how the monster feels, reacts, and thinks.

After Victor became so engrossed in his scientific studies, he isolated himself in his laboratory. He was so obsessed he did not even see his family. Ironically, after creating the very thing that cause him so much isolation for a long period of time, he abandoned his monster leaving him in a state of isolation also. The monster then ran away and spent time in the wilderness completely alone. Parallel to the monster, Victor at the same time struggled with being isolated in keeping his story to himself and the agony he endured in knowing he created the creature that killed his brother and ultimately his family friend. As the monster continued on in search of learning about people and the world he lived in, he watched a family in a cottage that he longed to be a part of. The more they taught him about friendship and love, the more lonely he felt in knowing he could not have friends. After being beaten and rejected by that family, he wandered by himself and was again rejected by a girl's father and Frankenstein's little brother leaving him in a state of ultimate isolation.

Mary Shelley shows throughout the novel the isolation the monster experiences and how he is always alone. The monster is viewed as an evil being and because of that no one wants to be around him. Always having to deal with this struggle, the monster feels isolated and alone for all of his years. Having no friends and always running everyone off in horror. This is one of the ways Mary Shelley portrays isolation throughout the text.

Mary W. Shelley presents revenge in "Frankenstein" as something that is normal. Revenge is getting payback on someone for doing wrong against you. This revenge concept is portrayed throughout the story multiple times. One instance is when the monster was so angry at Victor for creating him as such a hideous beast, that he went on to kill his brother. This plotted plan was to get payback on how Victor Frankenstein did him dirty.

Mary does a excellent job of developing the motif of isolation throughout the book through the monster and Frankenstein. The monster has spent his whole life in isolation and even when feels like hes not alone such as when hes watching the family he is still completely alone and when they made that glaringly obvious to him it drove him mad. Frankenstein himself has driven himself into isolation in order to hunt the monster.

Mary Shelley develops the motif of isolationism throughout the novel in many ways. One example of this is Justine. When her mother dies she is left alone. She does live with the Frankenstein family afterwards but it is not the same emotionally. She may have a good relationship with the Frankenstein kids but she still does not have that strong mother/daughter connection which may make her feel alone. When Ernest is killed and she is blamed for it she is not defended by Victor. It is ironic because Victor knows that his monster killed his brother but did not speak up. Had he spoken up, Justine would not have felt alone because she would have known at least one person defended her. While Elizabeth did defend Justine, it was not seen as important because she is a female and females were not heard back then. Justine was isolated and abandoned by Victor when she most needed it. Because of Victor's silence, she was executed.

Victor Frankenstein might be able to create a female counterpart for his monster, but nothing that he could do would ensure that she would be attracted to the monster. Everything terrible that the monster has done up, until this point, has been a byproduct of negative feelings caused by rejection. Who knows what horrific behavior would follow if a mate, especially one made for him, responded similarly to the humans he's encountered? Also, if these creatures end up being able to reproduce it would cause a catastrophe.

Mary Shelley demonstrated revenge in many different ways. Most of the time, revenge came as a reaction of hatred and trying to get back at someone as a result of a wrongdoing towards that person. Frankenstein wrongly abandoned the monster so the monster vowed to hurt him in whatever way he could. The family hurt him in their reaction to seeing him, so he burned their cottage. A difference in the way revenge was achieved was the way the monster tried to get revenge on Frankenstein at the end of Chapter 15. Once he found out the little boy was his brother, he indirectly got revenge on Frankenstein by killing his little brother.

Revenge is portrayed in Frankenstein as a common emotion felt by everyone. A prime example of this the monster being mad at Frankenstein for not taking care of him after he was created. Frankenstein wants to take revenge on the monster for killing his little brother and just continues in a cycle of everyone being mad at everyone.

The monster acts out in this way to show Frankenstein a form of punishment because the monster is upset with Frankenstein due to him leaving him. He then decides to frame Justine for the murder.

In the novel, revenge seems to be treated as an appropriate and natural reaction to percieved wrongdoing. Shelley writes about revenge as a terrible act that is rationalized because of previous interaction. This treatment does not change as the severity of what the monster has done changes. By the 15th chapter he's committed arguably the worst crime, murder, yet it's still credited to his past treatment
