Egyptian mythology is a series of myths  and stories from ancient Egypt, which use supernatural beings such as gods as a way to understand the world around them. The beliefs expressed in these myths  are an important part of the Egyptians religion. These myths appear frequently in their texts and art, particularly in short stories and in religious material such as hymns, and temple decoration. These sources usually only contain the fragment of the myth relevant to its purpose.

Most Egyptian gods have an origin story to determine their role and their aspects on life such as the story of Nut and Geb. where the story explains how The sun and the sky will forever be separated due to Ra's prediction that one of their kids will betray him. The people of Egypt assign personalities to all gods but despite that they revere all of them. Even Set the god known as the most evil being because of his gruesome murder of his brother to take the throne( Osiris, the one set killed and child of Nut and Geb, took the throne from Ra prior to this) is still worshiped. They view him as a necessary evil that mandatory to keep life going. As they view all other gods that bring hardship. Along with the good ones that bless people, they believe it keeps the universe flowing.
