Henry Marcus Quackenbush invented the nutcracker. Henry was born in April the 27th, 1847 in Herkimer, New york. As a child Henry went against his scholarly components than to read or much preferred to tinker with mechanical components than to read or study. Henry began an apprenticeship with the gun maker, Reming Arms. at the age of 14 where he acquired the skills of an expert, metalworker and gunmaker. Henry died on the 8th of September, 1933. Henry's background is, American. The nutcracker has one simple machine. It is the lever.

Did you know?

- In 1867, Henry had begun inventing and marketing devices on his own including his first successful creation, the extension ladder. He sold the paten for this invention for $500.

- Since 1913, nearly 200 million nutcrackers have been sold worldwide.

- If you come across a metal nutcracker marked with QBC it was made by Quakenbush's company.

The before the nutcracker people used their teeth to crack nuts. That hurt them alot. So then had to use rocks to crack nuts.

The oldest known metal nutcracker dates to the third or fourth century B.C. and is shown in a museum in Tarent, Italy. The Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum shows a bronze Roman nutcracker dated between 200 B.C. and 200 A.D. It was found in 1960 after being buried for over 1800 years.
