Henry Marcus Quackenbush invented the nutcracker. Henry was born in April the 27th, 1847 in Herkimer, New york. As a child Henry went against his scholarly components than to read or much preferred to tinker with mechanical components than to read or study. Henry began an apprenticeship with the gun maker, Reming Arms. at the age of 14 where he acquired the skills of an expert, metalworker and gunmaker. Henry died on the 8th of September, 1933. Henry's background is, American. The nutcracker has one simple machine. It is the lever.

- In 1867, Henry had begun inventing and marketing devices on his own including his first successful creation, the extension ladder. He sold the paten for this invention for $500.
