Module five in class Describes utilitarianism and the act of sacrifice for the better good. In this week we discussed the rail scenario and what we would do in situations similar to that. I found this read on BBC's website and I felt that it fit perfectly with this weeks module. Still, the question stands, How do we teach robots ethics? We as humanity are 50/50 on some morals and what we feel is right or wrong. If we as humans cannot decide if one person is worth saving five people that would otherwise be dead, how can we program this into robots without setting it up to fail?

The constitution was put in place to promote order and simplify any motives and questions that would come up in spite of the changes in time and standards of the mind. As I read this story and notice that its a complete violation of the first amendment, it makes me think about where do we as a nation draw the line. Regardless if we as a nation promote religion or not my ethics scream that things were put in place for a reason, and by deviating from that system it could lead to failure and chaos. In a religious standpoint it could be deemed as unfair and in an atheist standpoint, this could be viewed as the change that we as a people need to grow into the new times of self-thought. I understand both sides, but I believe that there could be a better way of appealing to both sides.

Please read this and this article that will give you depth on what ethics are for in the first place, to determine what we think of as good and bad.
