What can you observe that reflects the current season? 

Is there any evidence of the season just gone/ about to start?

Note: If weather is inappropriate for outside investigation, students can still look outside to identify seasonal characteristics.

Students should then form into small groups of 3-4 and make a poster that depicts a particular season through illustrations. The other groups then have to decide which season they think is depicted and why.

As a class, students should discuss how their predictions of what they would find compared with what they actually observed. Why could there be differences between your predictions and actual observations? Think about the month of the year, and how close or far away we are to another season.
