When this happens there is a strong sense of a focus on learning. Attending to building community also increases collaboration and many hands making light of the work. As the Professional Learning Leader, creating a welcoming atmosphere through low risk activities, such as fun ice-breakers and transitions, allows participants to begin to trust the process and thereby strengthen our sense of community. By modeling facilitation skills that affirm participant engagement, the Professional Learning Leader demonstrates an important aspect of inviting an esprit de corps that brings a great sense of ease to the atmosphere. After the initial ice breakers, it is important to establish norms before entering into the activities that result in the achieving of the goals and objectives for the training. Providing participants samples of Behavior | Process | Elevated Norms allows them to have ideas from which to begin. To ensure that goals and objects are met, via the activities, it is helpful to identify a table Facilitator, Process Observer (the person that monitors adherence to norms and helps to redirect the group, as needed/appropriate), Recorder (that identifies the agreed upon actions that address the goals and objects and a Timekeeper to ensure that everyone has equal airtime and that there is momentum toward the desired outcomes. mhopewell77 https://padlet.com/mhopewell77/2qd93dn1yb6l/wish/273841897
