Grab 3 or 4 items from home: take out containers, shoe box, twine...whatever you have lying around (ask before re-purposing something that's not yours!).

Use glue, twine, brads, etc. to create a unique sculpture.

My husband and I love to collect rocks. We drive out of town a little and walk on the dirt roads. A few days after a good rain, lots of cool rocks will have deposited along the road.

One thing I enjoy is stacking rocks. It's great for balance. You really have to slow down and exercise patience. But keep at it and you'll find it's pretty fun.

Beginning with the negative space, sketch the dark values, the shadows. Find the negative shapes created by the positive objects. As you sketch the negative space, the positive space "appears."

Materials
Paper
Pencil 
Markers, crayons, and/or watercolor 
Water cup
Paintbrush
Paper towels 

Instructions
  1. With paper in portrait orientation (short sides at top and bottom) very lightly sketch with pencil 5 curvy lines dividing paper into 6 sections. 
  2. In the top section, lightly write the words “I am”. Make sure all your letters touch the lines at the top and bottom, and fill the section.
  3. Lightly write your name in the bottom section. 
  4. In the remaining 4 sections write 4 adjectives, words that describe you, 1 word for each section. 
  5. Finish by tracing over pencil lines using crayons or markers.

Optional: add a painted background (Works with crayon, but NOT with washable markers).
