The United States did not like having a communist nation so close to the coast of the nation especially with a nation that they already had history with, so the CIA rounds up several Cuban exiles that did not support communism and they train them in Guatemala, finally they dropped off the regime in the Bay of Pigs and the plan was that the United States would supply air support however president Kennedy thought that would show that the United States was directly involved and ultimately doesn't happen, however due to the lack of air support the invasion never makes it off the beaches and Castro captures and interrogates most of the forces and it becomes public that the United States was ultimately behind the invasion and it looks very bad on the United States, this also led to Fidel Castro running to the Soviet Union to make a deal and they send missiles to Cuba in order to protect Cuba in a defensive state from the United States, however the United States claims they are offensive missiles which ultimately leads to another disagreement between the Soviet Union and the United States.

Following the failed bay of pigs invasion, Fidel Castro went to the Soviet Union for assistance, the Soviet Union formed an alliance with Cuba and deployed several intercontinental missiles and nukes that were pointed directly at the United States. However the United States was still using U-2 spy planes to spy on not only the Soviet Union but also Cuba where they discovered that they were constructing several nuclear sites. The United States then began preparations to nuke and destroy the sites however at the last second president Kennedy says they should partake in a blockade instead, after awhile the Soviet Union comes to an agreement with the United States, where the Soviet's would remove the nuclear weaponry from Cuba if the United States removed their's from Turkey.

However the leader of the revolt was a full blooded communist and since the United States wanted to contain the spread of communism they took it into their hands to overthrow communism in Vietnam which led to a Civil War outbreak in Vietnam. Amidst the fighting, in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnamese attacked US ships leading to their heavy involvement in the Vietnam War, however there is confusion on if the attack actually ever took place or if it was just a fake incident to give Lyndon B. Johnson an excuse to get more involved in the war.

The result was the elimination of the revolt and ultimately the chances of a communist overthrowing in the Dominican Republic.
