They see and hear how others act and respond in a way that they see. It is harder to recognize in the younger years because we can't always tell the difference between kids acting out and kids truly being mean. The earlier we can start teaching them and preparing them, the better we have a chance of catching things before they get out of hand. So many times bullying isn't something that is recognized until the later years and at this point it is to late. It is also important to recognize that many times children also see their parents bullying others so they are raised thinking that those actions are ok.
