I loved my life,I've been passionate about medicine since I was a little girl, the stories of women surgeons have always inspired me and that's why I decided to continue my studies in cardiac surgery. 

I had a lot of friends I always enjoyed hanging out with them, they made me so happy, my best friend was Kayla we met each other  when we were 9 in a library , and since that day we became inseparable.

 But 10 years ago things started getting worse because a civil war was been going on. Soon we all needed to be careful of our every move, in case we getting hit by a shooting. 

My biggest dream was become a surgeon but I didn’t want to leave my life in Surt. That made me feel disheartened.

 I was actually shocked to hear her thoughts but I have recognised that she was completely right. 

The day after my conversation with Kayla I told my parents that I would pack my stuff and leave the country.

Initially I thought a lot that nothing would ever be the same, and no one would accept me as a migrant; but my thoughts were stopped by the weird inclination of the boat and then I realised that we were taking on water. All the people started panicking.

The crew was trying to solve the problem when i saw a child fainting. I summoned my composure and applied the safety measures I managed to save that poor child. Three hours later we landed in Greece. Soon I found out a terrible new, my bus travel to Germany was completely delete. I’ve never feel so desperate in my whole life, I thought that I would be left alone in that unknown place, until a miracle happened.

The mom of the child that I saved in the boat has asked me if I wanted to go with them because they were also going to Germany, I felt so much grateful.

I slept for the whole travel, but when we arrived I felt so much happy, I thought that I would restart a new, better life without dangers. My cousin came and took me to his house initially it was a little awkward but then i got comfortable in his home.

When I met my family again my heart was racing I felt a very joyous emotion hugging my sister Leila  again and crying with my parents.

From that moment I promised myself that I would work the hardest possible in order to give my family a perfect life in a safe country.

Even if it’s incredible to believe, today I’m really a cardio surgeon, I love my life but sometimes I miss my native country. 

In the years I recognised that I’ve made the right decision leaving Libya, I would have had a chance to die if I hadn’t left. I would face again all the legal processes regarding asylum claims to have a life without dangerous situations.

This experience taught me to help people in every situation, because you’ll be repaid.
