With more than two decades of experience furnishing design-build and airport functions management, Joseph Alesia is a seasoned aviation professional. He holds a bachelor's degree in science biology from Illinois State University as well as a bachelor's degree in aviation management from Lewis University. At Lewis, Joseph Alesia attained highest honors with a 3.96 grade point average. He also holds certification as an advanced ground instructor and airplane pilot through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and, while earning the designations, he received recognition from the FAA for developing an airfield training program to reduce runway incursions.

Joseph Alesia joined the City of Chicago Department of Aviation in 2012; today, he serves as an airport manager in charge of terminal operations and passenger experience at O’Hare International Airport. He has contributed multiple improvements to the airport. Mr. Alesia played an integral role in creating the Teamster Motor Truck Driver training program, which cuts down on radio traffic between ground control and motor truck drivers for improved safety. He also designed a work management system utilizing computer-aided design to more quickly identify deficiencies across 193 gate terminal spaces. The initiative resulted in union trade groups responding 90 percent faster to system issues.
