Mr. Worthing. But only a few people know that he’s indeed a ¨Bunburyst¨(named like that after Algernon’s explanation) A man who’s secretly running a double life as his fake brother named Ernest. 
Mr. Worthing has created Ernest with the proposed to liberate himself from the responsibility, In Hertfordshire, everyone knows that Ernest is a troublemaker and that time to times Mr. Worthing goes to London to rescue his brother.

In London Mr. Worthing has a whole different life, he has a good friend named Algernon and the love of his life Gwendolen, Algernon's cousin.

Mr. Worthing wants to marry Gwendolen but in order to do that, he needs to come clean with everything.

Algernon is the first person to discovers Ernest true identity and turns out that Algernon also has a secret, his dear friend Bunbury is fake, just a mire invention created to be a go out of jail free, whenever it’s required.

When Mr. Worthing propose to Gwendolen she accepts and tells him that it’s a good thing because she’s only get married to a man named Ernest a name that inspires trust. That's when Mr. Worthing decides to go back to Hertfordshire and change his name to Ernest.

At the same time, Algernon meets Cecily as Ernest, and he falls in love with her. After Algernon realizes that he’s only going to be able to marry Cecily if he continues to be Ernest he decides to change his name.

After a series of uncomfortable and unexpected events Cecily and Gwendolen find out all the truth about Algernon and Mr. Worthing’s plans but them forgive the boys. 

A few after the arrival of Lady Bracknell to the town a big secret is revealed…

She is a child of nature, as ingenuous and unspoiled as a pink rose
However, her ingenuity is belied by her fascination with wickedness. She is obsessed with the name Ernest just as Gwendolen is, but wickedness is primarily what leads her to fall in love with “Uncle Jack’s brother,” whose reputation is wayward enough to intrigue her. 
Cecily is probably the most realistically drawn character in the play, and she is the only character who does not speak in epigrams. Her charm lies in her idiosyncratic cast of mind and her imaginative capacity, qualities that derive from Wilde’s notion of life as a work of art.

She uses a lot of flashy vocabulary like "utilitarian" and "vacillating" and even tries to impress Dr. Chasuble with made-up words like "womanthrope" 
She is Cecily's governess and a symbol of Victorian moral righteousness. She is educating Cecily to have no imagination or sensationalism in her life.
Miss Prism springs for the chance to take a walk with Dr. Chasuble. She is totally into him. His sermons, his lectures, his metaphors all make her stomach swarm with butterflies. Cecily clearly recognizes the infatuation and uses it to get out of her lessons.
