This book was pretty good! It was not my favorite book but it was still good. It is a romantic book with lots of plot twists. My favorite part is when Belly says “Would you rather live one perfect day over and over or live your life with no perfect days, but just decent ones?” People who love books that are dramatic and romantic would love this book. I would give this book a 4/5 because it was not my favorite genre of book to read.

The setting of The Summer I Turned Pretty is at Cousins Beach in Wilmington, North Carolina. I know this because in the text it says “We’d been going to Susannah’s beach house in cousins beach every summer since I was a baby, since before I was born even.” Cousins is a warm sandy beach with a sapphire blue ocean. The sky is a bright baby blue with white fluffy clouds that look like a soft blanket. Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, and Steven spend all summer on the beach and in the ocean at Cousins.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is about a girl named Isabella but everyone calls her Belly. She goes to Susannah’s beach house in Cousins every summer. Belly is in love with Conrad (one of Susannah’s sons) and has been chasing him since she was eleven. This is the year Belly turns 16 and she finally gets to go to the Fourth of July bonfire with the guys. She meets someone named cam who takes her mind off Conrad for a while. Belly and Cam don’t hardly talk anymore so Belly confesses to Conrad about how she feels. Conrad is going through a lot with his mother getting diagnosed with cancer so he says no. Belly’s mom says “She’s sick. She has been for a long time the cancer came back and it’s aggressive. It’s spread to her liver.” This made Belly cry and she never wanted to leave the summer house knowing that there might not be another summer at Cousins, but when the last day of summer came she finally left.

Digory and Polly spend a lot of time here until they travel to Narnia. Narnia is a very mystical place. The trees are a beautiful green and the sky is a light blue with clouds that are so very white and so fluffy. Digory and Polly travel back and forth between these two setting very often.

I kind of liked this book but that’s because I loved the dark and evil plot twists and that stuff. It was kind of interesting but when they would travel around Narnia and the King Caspian X’s were so interesting. I would definitely rate this book a 4/5 because of a lot of the parts being interesting and cool but there was still a little bit of the book that wasn’t as interesting. Anyone that loves plot twists, adventure, evil characters, and other fantasy characteristics would adore this book.

I kind of liked this book. It didn’t have many plot twists. It had one really interesting plot twist. I would rate this book a 3/5. I didn’t find it very interesting. But if your someone who likes to read books that don’t have as many cliff hangers or plot twists then this would be an amazing book for you.

The unicorn says that humans are brought to Narnia when Narnia is in trouble. Narnia is in huge trouble now. Narnia’s only hope is that Eustace and Jill will be able to find the true Aslan and bring back peace. Their task is really hard because as the “the stars never lie, but men and beasts do.” They can’t tell who the real Aslan is and who the imposters are, will they ever find him.

Matilda ends up standing up for her school whenever Miss Trunchbull wasn’t very kind.

There are 3 settings in this book. One of which is the school. The 2nd setting is Matilda’s home. And the 3rd is Miss Honey’s cottage in the woods. The school is a very terrible place. It has many torture devices and horrific things. Matilda’s home doesn’t have many ways to describe it but I would say that it’s a descent home with everything she needs but not so much what she wants. And finally Miss Honey’s cottage. This tiny little house is adorable and has so many decorations and items that are very important to Miss Honey.
