We need to teach students how to use technology responsibly to be productive and positive citizens of the world. We also need to focus on relating our content to the real world because many times students don't see where their learning will apply to their current or future lives.

We need realistic expectations about impulse control and open access to the internet during the school day. Teaching appropriate technology use and executive functioning while doing everything possible to protect students from open access is vital to success.

Allowing students to absorb a concept by making deeper connections. The content is very fast paced in math and does not promote self-assuredness or meaningful connections.

Accountability - second step talk about internal roadblocks vs external roadblocks. Internal roadblock can be controlled by the person. The students do not get that. The sooner they understand accountability the better.

I think it is important for us to focus on teaching kids to use technology properly and in an academic / career-driven way. We assume they know how to do things that they don't simply because the've grown up with technology available to them.

Connection and community building. Students need to feel safe and connected to learn. Continue to make those connections even with those students who are the hardest to connect with...their are typically the ones who need it the most.
