         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 334 BC he attacked the Achaemenid Empire (Persian Empire) and started a progression of missions that kept going 10 years. Following his victory of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), Alexander broke the force of Persia in a progression of conclusive fights, including those at Issus and Gaugamela. He in this way toppled King Darius III and vanquished the Achaemenid Empire in its entirety.[b] At that point, his domain extended from the Adriatic Sea to the Indus River.</div>]]></description>
