In 1914 Turks wanted to get the Armenians out of the war zone. 
In 1915 the genocide began. The Turkish government arrested and executed millions of Armenians. They were sent out of their homes and sent on death marches. 
The genocide finally ended in 1918 when the Ottoman Empire surrendered.

The rest were to be deported. The Armenians were marched to death, or to concentration camps where they were killed mass.
