Preparations of The Script

In script writing, Widad mostly handled the modifying part, while Fariesha focused on the narration, collaborating closely with Widad throughout. Given our theme of the Korea Joseon Era, we worked together to infuse the script with a Korean flavor. Our process involved extensive research to ensure the accuracy of the information presented. Additionally, Fariesha consulted with a Korean in an apps called HelloTalk, regarding costumes, props, and the linguistic nuances of the era. Our familiarity with Joseon Kdramas also informed our approach. It took us 4 hours to modify our script, do our research, consult with a Korean and put some Korean elements into the script.

Preparations of The Props and Costumes

The ideas for props and costumes mostly came from Najah, Widad, and Fariesha. Widad did the costume sketching, and all of us went to search for the items to buy. We collectively made the costumes and props, including hats, dagger, dice, etc. The total expense for props and costumes was RM130.20, which divided by 5 means one person paid RM26.04.

Rehearsals

We rehearsed by doing script readings right before our scenes, allowing us to correct each other's intonation and facial expressions. These were my favorite moments because we all helped and exchanged opinions. Before our scenes, we also discussed camera angles together. For our singing and dancing scene, it took Fariesha 3 days to search for the Korean fan dance and practice a little bit, while Najah spent 3 days mastering her ukulele playing, and Zurin focused on perfecting her Korean pronunciation for singing.

The Good, The Bad and Suggestion for Improvements.

The Good: It's evident that everyone contributed significantly to the realization of this stage play. Each person made an effort to fulfill their responsibilities without prematurely dismissing tasks with "I cannot." Arief's sacrifice of giving his phone to record highlights the selflessness within the team. The abundance of brilliant ideas contributed by everyone strengthens our teamwork.

The Bad: The expense incurred was slightly high, and there wasn't enough time for us to adequately practice our acting. The rushed process of creating our props led to malfunctions earlier than expected.

Improvements: We should have been more mindful of our expenses, avoiding unnecessary purchases, and initiating the creation of props and costumes earlier. Additionally, starting our acting rehearsals sooner would have prevented any awkwardness in front of the camera.

Celebration

Overall, we enjoyed every process of our stage play and went for a team dinner celebration right after the stage play is submitted!
