Description:
This website talks about what exactly is Past Life Regression. It discusses the belief and talks about how it is the idea that an individual's soul or consciousness has existed in multiple lifetimes beyond their current one. It mentions how people who believe in past life regression often seek to explore their past lives through guided meditation, hypnosis, or other forms of therapy.

Connection:
The website connects to Ideology as the reason for belief as is often rooted in spiritual or religious beliefs, such as reincarnation or the concept of karma. Another reason for belief connected to this website is Perception & Observation because people may use their perception and observation of their current life experiences to support the idea of past lives. For example, they may feel a strong connection to a particular culture or time period and believe that this is evidence of a past life and on the website it mentions that PLR helps people to understand why they have a deep connection with a certain place or timeline. One connection to the pseudoscience watchlist is that it convinces by faith and belief in spite of evidence. It uses the ideology aspect and has no evidence supporting the claims, and this website does make a lot of them. Another pseudoscience watchlist that this site falls under is the results cannot be reproduced or verified. This is known by carefully and critically evaluating the website for evidence and skeptically looking at the information and so-called claims of or lack of results. A flaw in the logic of this belief is: scientific evidence cannot support it or back it up to ensure results, and this website talks about Hypnotherapy which is supposed to help people reconnect with past life experiences but that is not possible logically looking. While further evaluating this site, it is noticeable that the website is also biased as the whole website revolves around The Past Lives Experience and promotes the belief.

Description:
This image I chose is of a book by Ann C. Barham who is a certified past life regression therapist. I chose this image because it relates to my post #4 and because the book that its about it is said to be an original, insightful, and helpful analysis of the immense healing potential of Past Life Regression Therapy to open a healing pathway that can assist you people in resolving persistent personal issues, enhancing your life, and finding the answers to your most pressing spiritual questions regarding your life's purpose.

Connection:
This image and book connects to Emotional Connection as its reason for belief because this therapy mentioned in the book digs deep into the personal problems that people face and questions they have unanswered and uses their emotions to trigger results or an idea of them. A red flag in this book is confirmation bias as this therapy is known to only help and nothing else. The book only talks about the results that have been successful and only talks about the things that confirm its belief. A pseudoscience watchlist that this falls under is use of scientific-sounding language that is meaningless and often appeals to emotion. It falls under these because it uses a lot of big words revolving around therapy to make it sound like a scientific method and procedure when it in fact is not. The other watchlist I mentioned was that it appeals to emotion which I already mentioned. A flaw that goes with this is that: the therapy mentioned in the book calls more to the vulnerable people that want to seek help and are lost but don't know where to get it from. The author of this book can be seen being biased when critically thinking and evaluating in the book as she is a therapist for this topic and it is her career so her book promotes her own business and ideologies of the so-called results of hypnotherapy and past life regression therapy and her belief of it. The book makes us believe what the author believes specifically and does not have skeptical thinking involved to look at the belief from all perspectives like we should do before believing it.

Description:
The website has an article about a woman named Michelle Darrisaw. She, in her article talks about her experience taking past life regression therapy with the help of Ann Barham, and her book, The Past Life Perspective: Discovering Your True Nature Across Multiple Lifetimes as mentioned in post #3. Darrisaw mentions using various hypnosis techniques (like slow breathing and counting down) to work on her therapy. She mentions her inspiration to be a quote she heard by a Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard saying “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”

Connection:
This website connects to the Unexplained reason for belief. This is because PLR is said to provide an explanation for irrational fears, habits, or physical afflictions that have no apparent cause in the current life. The so-called results of this therapy are unexplained because logically thinking they are not possible, and the same goes for scientifically. A pseudoscience watchlist that his site falls under is that it deliberately creates mystery. The method for the therapy is mentioned in the site and a positive outcome is said to have presented but the author of the article does not mention what the positive outcomes were. They want to keep the readers attention and interest and so she is creating a mystery saying the change and transformation is unexplainable but there. She mentions that what she is saying might sound cliché but is true without evidence, and this is a flaw in the logic and factuality of it all. Another reason for belief you could say is Agenticity as the idea of closing your eyes and hearing a soothing voice is assigned to the results of being able to travel and understand past lives lived and the knowledge of it.

Description:
This video talks about whether or not past life regression is even possible. Sadhguru talks about the root of the Regression Hypnotherapy which is done for this belief. He mentions how while doing this hypnosis a person is not facing reality, they aren't meant to but in fact are living in a intended reality created by the person hypnotizing them.

Connection:
The video connects to the depth of the reason for belief being Patternicity and Ideology. Sadhguru mentions how because of the hypnosis aspect of this therapy that helps a person accomplish past life regression, life becomes a false reality. People tend to start looking for patterns and so-called signs of their past lives to answer their questions and to stay strong on their beliefs which are often rooted from faith and religion. Sadhguru mentions some of the red flags that PLR has and explains how they are flawed. A flaw he mentions in this video is actually a pseudoscience watchlist which is that: it has the use of scientific-sounding language that is meaningless. This video talks about how this whole idea of past life regression comes from people using big words to make it sound scientific and realistic but its not all a reality and in fact is an idea of reality created by a person themselves. This adds to critical evaluation portion because when you look at it skeptically you are able to notice that the idea of the hypnotherapy and its success is based on the therapists assumption of a person's belief and connection and emotions.

Description:
This image is a representation of Past Life Regression is the core of where and what inspired lots of people to be more comfortable with the topic and talk about their experiences with it and its therapy and hypnotherapy.

Connection:
This image connects to the reason for belief of Emotional Connection very strongly as the platform that the picture was uploaded on talks about people and their shared traumas and personal problems that they wished to have resolved through PLR Therapy. A woman named Anita Bhagwandas inspired by this picture shared her interest and curiosity in the topic and how she felt towards the healing process and that resulted in her emotional connection to the healing but it was not just that because she believed it due to an ideology as well. She was basing her knowledge off of her own belief affected by her faith and religion and questioning her past possibly being associated with Satan himself. A pseudoscience watchlist factor associated with her story is that it: convinces by faith and belief (in spite of evidence). Anita Bhagwandas has no scientific evidence that can strengthen her belief in PLR but she does not need it either because this is a flaw: that the idea has been set in her head that her faith is involved in the belief and she must follow-through with the idea to find her purpose in life. This is also an emotional connection with her and often appeals to emotion because she mentions being lost and that associates to being vulnerable saying "takes the fright factor out of it a bit, I do have some trepidation about what I could unleash". While critically thinking and evaluating you can recognize emotions and biased by this woman as she wants to send a message across about her experience and emotions that would and did lead to a results with this therapy.

Description:
This video is of Brian Weiss who is a hypnotherapist that specializes in Past Life Regression. In this video Brian Weiss is giving one of this PLR sessions and is going into the depth of how this therapy works and how a person can connect to it at a spiritual level.

Connection:
The video connects to the reason for belief of Emotional Connection as well as it is connected with the idea of reincarnation, which is a central tenet in many spiritual and religious traditions. The pseudoscience red flag with this video is Appeal to Authority because in the video it is a therapist, a hypnotherapist and a psychiatrist speaking to a group of vulnerable people. Everyone who watches this video sees a doctor with a degree sounding like he knows what he is saying and using big words. He speaks in a calm voice to try and get inside of people's heads and minds and speak to them at an emotion connection and level that triggers their problems and in finding solutions when in reality they are vague to everyone but certain people feel them more due to person problems. The pseudoscience watchlist that this video falls under is deliberately creates mystery, often appeals to emotion, and money is often involved as sessions were costly. Brian Weiss was mysterious about his tactics and solutions and did not have science to backup the results he intended and said were visible. He also used his calm voice to get inside vulnerable people's minds and appealed to their emotions and because his sessions were not free, money was involved too. Another reason for belief and flaw about this video is perception & observation as he was surrounding people in an environment that connected with his words and made a false reality and was seen as a manipulation of sorts.

Description:
On this website, the questions are raised as to whether past life regression gives clues into lifetimes or not. It touches upon how some people think that past-life experiences, feelings, and even traumas might still have an impact on them today. It talks about the concept of a past life, what is the therapy for it, practices to get in touch with your soul, and what science says about it.

Connection:
This site connects to Patternicity and Emotional Connection. This is because in the article on this website a number of psychiatrists are referenced to find and see a meaning in a number of things relating to people's past lives. But the problem is that the emotions of a person and their past experiences and trauma have a important factor is the patterns they believe they see or are shown. The pseudoscience watchlist this falls under is: often appeals to emotions. This is because the article focuses on how this became a real belief and the background of it. The root and background of this belief is from people wanting to get in touch with their loved ones and deceased and focus on the reincarnation part of life. A flaw is this belief is: we cannot verify the information and it lacks evidence. The limitation is that the site is opinion based before it has any facts and has a biased point of view when looked at critically.

Description:
This image is a poster that was advertising an online audiobook that talks about helping people to uncover their hidden past lives and access the memories from it. This audiobook's advertisement uses the hypnosis method mixed with meditation to help people get to the past life regression stage and "heal themselves" and find their personal secret.

Connection:
This image connects to Agenticity for the reason of belief and falls under the: money is often involved, and results can’t be reproduced or verified in the pseudoscience watchlist. The way this poster and its audiobook is associated with agenticity is that a false reality is being created in the sessions with hypnosis and what's not there is being associated with reincarceration and past life experiences. A big watchlist factor of this belief and audiobook poster is the way money is thrown into these programs and sessions. People just want results and to believe a fake representation so they spend so much money. Another thing is that the so-called results cannot be repeated or reproduced as they are a matter of chance and connecting with vulnerable people to give them a sense of purpose and healing. The results are promised of things like removing bad karma, understanding your past and heal your mind and body. While critically evaluating and thinking i was able to find a flaw and limitation in the image and its relation to PLR. A flaw in this is that the audiobook has no evidence and is just an 'inspiration'. A limitation faced with this poster is the lack of fact-check for the information within it. It does not have verification from a scholar or scientific evidence to support it but rather is someone technically experimenting on the people that buy it.

Description:
The PLR therapy is covered in the video. To assist the patient in accessing these memories, a therapist leads them through a sequence of questions and suggestions. The video emphasises PLR therapy's potential advantages, including as its capacity to treat unresolved emotional difficulties that may be connected to past incarnations and gain insight into present-day actions, attitudes, and connections. Also, patients may benefit from the therapy by overcoming phobias and fears, enhancing their general wellbeing, and developing a stronger spiritual awareness. The video also mentions that former life regression treatment may not be appropriate for everyone and that there is considerable debate over its effectiveness and validity. A trained and experienced therapist should be sought out, and treatment should be approached with an open mind.

Connection:
This video connects to Ideology for its reason for belief as the therapy and interviews shown in the video are not supported with scientific evidence and because the actual concept of past lives and reincarnation is a belief held in many spiritual and religious traditions which bases from an ideology rather than factual information. The pseudoscience watchlist that this video falls under is that it: convinces by faith and belief (in spite of evidence). This is because, rather than it providing scientific evidence to back it up, it is triggering and strengthening the ideologies that people have and giving facts that sound like they support the faiths and beliefs of people. The therapy's stated advantages are also not validated by empirical research and might be explained by placebo effects or the persuasiveness of suggestion. Although some individuals may benefit from the therapy, it should not be used in place of evidence-based therapies for mental health conditions. A flaw and limitation that was seen in this video was the lack of evidence and the ability to change facts to reflect a personal belief. When carefully and critically thinking into this sight, it was recognized that the video was based on assumptions as it done in an interview manner and was asking question in order to get answers to fulfill the assumptions that the creator and interviewer had. It is also based a little bit on emotions because the interviewees were reflecting their beliefs and their feelings towards it when answering.

1. What did you learn about the topic that most surprised you?
Something that most surprised me about this topic is most likely the so-called results that people share and say they have. People say that PLR therapy has helped them to gain insight on themselves as a self-reflection and helped them with their person problems and past live issues. The ideology behind this is very interesting to me as I do believe in it so seeing lots of people's different experiences really surprised me and had me interested. I was also surprised about the amount of celebrities who have claimed to have taken this therapy to help themselves.

2. Provide a real-life example of how this topic is relevant or interesting for you.
A real-life example of how I find this topic interesting is that I actually have a friend that mentioned to me about being interested in PLR therapy and I was unaware of the idea before because I had never heard of it in the past but because of that mention from a friend when I saw this topic in the list, I got very interested and thought it would be a good idea to learn about it so I can share wut her what I have learned and tell her so she can decide if she wants to take this therapy or not.

3. Which research did you find most interesting? Why?
What I found most interesting about the research on past live regression is the emphasises the significance of the placebo effect and the power of persuasion and suggestion. Even though there is no proof to suggest that previous incarnations exist or that they may be accessed through hypnosis, some patients may nonetheless claim to have had profound emotional or psychological advantages from the therapy. This raises the possibility that the therapeutic process and the notion of past lives may be more significant factors than the actual memories retrieved.

4. What are you most likely to remember from this research?
I think I am most likely to remember all of the difference experiences and stories that I read and watched of people who have taken this therapy. I feel like that stood out to be more than anything and the fact that people spent so much money on their belief getting taken advantage of because 'doctors' of hypnosis have talked about it.

5. Having completed all the course content, which pseudoscience belief do you think is most harmful? Which is least harmful?
The most harmful pseudoscience belief I would say is the denial of evidence-based medical treatments, we touched upon this in the course content and it is highly dangerous because it could lead to results like delayed treatments of serious medical conditions and the risk of worsen symptoms and even cause death overtime. I would say the least harmful might be astrology as it does not cause too much harm or risk of it and rather people just enjoy reading horoscopes or discussing astrological signs without causing harm to themselves or others.

6. If you could pass on your knowledge to a family member or friend, what do you think is the most important thing to pass on?
If I had to pass on my knowledge of paranormal and pseudoscience to a family member or friend I would pass on the importance of using critical thinking when analysing claims supported by scientific data. It's crucial to view these claims with scepticism and look for trustworthy sources of information, even if certain paranormal experiences may be fascinating or even appear convincing. I would also draw attention to the possible harm that might result from accepting unreliable scientific statements, such as postponing urgent medical care or falling for con artists. In the end, I would advise my family member or friend to approach paranormal topics with an open but critical mind and to give weight to explanations supported by facts rather than claims.
