A psychologist is a person who study human behaviour and how we think, developing an understanding of human thought, emotion and behaviour. He exchanges with people who are experiencing distress or psychological difficulties. 

This profession requires a certain level of education. Indeed, you may have completed a five-year degree in clinical psychopathology. To succeed in a psychology degree, it is best to master the fundamentals of biology by immersing yourself in the world of science.                                                       
As a psychologist, you have to listen to your patients in order to help them understand and reflect on their own emotions, thoughts and actions, helping them towards a more positive outlook on life. You need to have the ability to analyse the behaviour of people in distress to be able to understand them and therefore help them to move on with their lives.
That's why it's important to like human contact and care about others.

You also have to keep your distance from the upsetting patient stories and so be professional. Moreover, you need to set up individual or group therapies adapted to your patients.

Basically, the mental life of your patients is in your hands and that is why you must have a sense of responsibility to support them in their care.
