         <description><![CDATA[<div>Odysseus goes to the to the land of the dead to consult with Tiresias after Circe tells him to return home he has to talk to him about his fate. During which he meets many spirits. The spirits that he see scares him to the bone but he continues to command his crew as a leader should. They sacrifice sheep to the underground gods so they do not anger them. " I grew sick with fear But presently I gave command to my officers to flay those sheep the bronze cut down, and make burnt offerings of flesh to the Gods below-..."( PRENTICE HALL LITERATURE book,Copyright © 2014 Pearson Education, Inc. Page 1065, line 570-573). During Odysseus's time down there he encountered an old crew member, Elpenor, who had died by getting drunk and falling off a roof. He then begs Odysseus that when he returns to Circe to give him a proper burial, " do not abandon me unwept, unburied, to tempt the gods' wrath, while you sail for home; but fire my corpse, and all the gear i had, and build a cairn for me ..."(PRENTICE HALL LITERATURE book,Copyright © 2014 Pearson Education, Inc. Page 1067 , Line 602-605). When he finally talks to Tiresias he tells him his fate, which has a harrowing ending if his crew eats the Cattle of Helios. </div>]]></description>
