The teacher talked about the steps of the lesson where she will start with the story of the new sound and the action of the sound followed by blending and segmenting then a song followed by letter formation 

then the teacher made a revision of the previously learned sounds and the teacher pointed out that some of the students still need support with I sound 

she introduced the new sound do students bye narrating the story off the new sound and the story where full of colorful pictures and the teacher used sounds werds which contain the new sound such as ink inky and so on 

the teacher elicited what the students can see in the story and the students started naming some objects that they know there 

the teacher provided a video demonstrating the pronunciation end the action of the new sound and it was easy to follow 

then the teacher provided a blending activity where she demonstrated the way of blending words which contained the new sound like ink and Bing and these sound or words were illustrated by colorful pictures 

then the teacher provided a segmenting activity where she demonstrated the way of segmenting words which contained the new sound as well 

then the teacher provided a video demonstrating the way of the letter formation where the student should drive the letter on the four lines and this video was easy to follow how to write the letter step by step 

then she asked students to practice writing the new sound 

then the teacher moved to the second sound in the lesson where she followed the same steps that she used in the previous sound 

The teacher pointed out that most of the students finished practicing the new sounds while others he asked them to do it later at home 

then the teacher gave the students a homework at the end of the lesson to practice writing the new sounds 

the teacher provided a colorful and after active materials for young learners to attract their attention to the new lesson 

Video and actions do illustrate things during the lesson and he used colorful pictures to illustrate the meaning of the new words 

she did a good job in demonstrating the activities during the lesson 

he used PowerPoint and videos as well as recording of her sound when explaining things to students 

it would be better if the teacher discussed the learning outcomes at the beginning of the lesson 

The teacher reported that the students were excited during the warm up activity as he used a game where she included seven students as players and other students are helping them and correcting their answers 

there is and noticeable improvement in the teacher technological and pedagogical skills.

the content of the lesson is well organized and the teacher is following almost all that synchronous lesson steps as instructed by the Ministry of Education 

The teacher welcomed her students to school online in distance e-learning and she started practicing with them how to greet each other by showing them a video of a role play of how to greet each other 

then the teacher asked each student to introduce himself or herself same way as she did and they were excited and active in this part of the lesson as everyone wants to talk to the others 

the teacher explained the synchronous lesson rules the students where she demonstrated these rules with attractive pictures to help them understand the meaning 

she demonstrated the way of writing in English and she asked students to practice with her from left to right 

she asked her students to open their skills book and she explained that they are going to trace the dots the provided shapes as when as coloring these shapes 

she gave the students the time to practice this writing from left to right to get used to the way of writing in English 

after that she introduced the main characters in grade one and ask students to watch the video of these characters when they are introducing themselves where she used chatterbox kid program to make these characters speaking to attract grade one attentions 

then she provided flash cards and word cards of these characters and asked students to the beat the name of each character and then match the word with the picture 

In her reflection, the teacher pointed out that she faced some problems during the first synchronous lesson as the video didn't work during the lesson and she lost some time trying to fix the problem 

also she pointed out that some students couldn't see certain parts in the PowerPoint and she pointed out that she will more make the font bigger next time 

the teacher pointed out that she will make her presentation more fun and interesting for the future plans 

 

Ø The teacher explained the learning outcomes well 

Ø the teacher did a warm up activity to revise the sound that they learned in the previous lesson where she used the spinning wheel 

Ø the teacher did a good introduction for the lesson she used the story to introduce this sound 

Ø the teacher did a good demonstration of the lesson by demonstrating how the student should form the new sound 

Ø the teacher did concept checking questions to ensure that the students understand what to do

Ø The teacher uses videos and has well management of the class

Ø  she used individual activities. whole class activity and whole class repetition to ensure that all the students use and practice the sound.

Ø students were excited to open their cameras to the teacher their written work 

Ø the teacher did a good introduction for the new words and she used attractive materials 

Ø the teacher showed the students in a video recording how they form the new sound using the four lines 

Ø she was making a good use of the students’ mother tongue for example one of students said Nam, the teacher said ALZahara, say yes!

Ø the teacher asked students how many lines can you see? and the students counted with her and she demonstrated and specified the lines that they are going to use to form the new sound 

Ø the teacher did a good demonstration of how to write the sound K and C

Ø the teacher did a funny differentiation so the students remember the letters which are in 2 lines and the letters who are in 3 lines… she said if the sound is listening to instruction and being good then it will be in two lines, if not then three lines 

Ø the teacher was choosing students who participate from the list which is good so they will not be repeated during the lesson 

Ø the teacher asked students to circle the new sound and she specified the time for the activity 

Ø the teacher did an excellent follow up for students production and work, in checking students work.

Ø  she did a good blending activity and she demonstrated for the students how they are doing the blending

Ø  also, she did a good demonstration of the segmenting activity and students were able to segment words 

Ø the teacher gave a homework to students and wrapped up the lesson in a good way

   it would be better if the teacher used pointer or laser within the Power point while she is explaining so the students focus on what she is talking about 

I’m really proud of myself because I created completed online jolly phonics lessons. I tried and did my best to cover all jolly phonics steps in one hour and not face to face with students.

If I have the chance again to repeat any part or activity, I will change the way of teaching letter formation. In jolly phonics lesson I created my own video to show students how to write the new sound in the four lines. It was a great idea because students like to see their teacher writing. But the problem is watching a video is a boring step for students. They don’t pay attention. So, its better to use a white board that is already in the Teams App. 

Attending training sessions on e-preparation and the elements synchronous lesson helped me a lot to understand the steps that I have to follow. Also, it gives me a chance to share ideas and solutions that might face teachers. Another thing related to technology, is was a fantastic chance to acquire technical skills and develop my abilities in dealing with educational apps.
