- Low Key Lighting

- Colors like Red/Black/White connotes danger, pain, murder.

- Razor blades removing finger prints conveys torture and that the person must be hiding something. Only showing the hands implies that this person wants to keep their identity a secret.

- The jagged font enforces the psychopathic nature of the film and fits with the thriller genre.

- Documentation of ongoing information of alleged victims signifies that the killer is very sophisticated, determined and precise. To elaborate, the killer clearly well thought out the plan and might be one step ahead of the police.

- The blood signifies that something sinister is going on.

- Crossing out information enforces how manipulative and cunning the killer is. One particular scene where the killer crosses out the word "God" is foreshadowing the theme of religion later explored in the film.

- Extreme Close Up to show small details in the mise en scene. Because the shot is so focused on each individual prop, it reveals very little about the overall view which could be unclear and mysterious to the audience, making them uncomfortable or confused as to what is going on.
