I hope you had a restful weekend!  Can you believe we are in the last week of September? Time is flying.

I am learnig how to create padlets. As you can see I am not an expert yet. This is a good collaboration tool.  I am certainly having fun with it.  Please feel free to comment on any of the items. How do you comment?  Click on the plus sign on the lower right hand corner.

At the beginning of the year we decided that we wanted to start with two easy strategies - The social contract and shaking students hands at the beginning of the day.  I am very excited about the progress we have made implementing these strategies.  We are not completely 100% but we are almost there. Also,  I have shaken hands with almost every class and it is energizing!  I even have had students come up to me at lunch/recess to speak with me, and the first thing they do is?  Yes, shake my hand!  I asked a student about his hand shake and he stated "if I don't give a firm hand shake and make eye contact  my teacher makes me do it again"  The student looked old enough to be a 4th/5th grader - Kudos to you teacher-

Now that the first month is up lets start looking at the next two strategies to focus on.  Some of you have jumped ahead and started doing affirmations and signals (which is great!).  Please discuss with your PLC what you feel the next two strategies should be.  We will either discuss this at our next meeting or will call a quick huddle.  By the way, the office staff has began to use some of the strategies. Mainly the 4 questions and have been trying to shake students' hands.  One of the main benefits of all of us using the same strategies and language is that students know exactly what to expect.

We had a couple of issues with the schedule, but I think we have resolved them.
