This picture helps to show just what a public relations specialist does. They can be considered the hub of connections. A specialist can be in charge of branding for a company, spreading information via social media sites, networking with other companies... the list can travel on for years. This career has never been more perfect for a generation, as every teen has a social media count and is avidly promoting themselves on it. So you should ask yourself, if you know how to work a social media account, why don't you get paid to do it. Its not just using social media, but it can be that and more. You can be the face of a company, well not the actual face of the company, but the one that helps promote the "pretty face" of the company. As a specialist you will be in charge of getting everyone to know about the company you are in charge of. You want everyone to know what that company is about and what they have to offer. Wether it be through verbal promotion, online promotion, or print, you will do everything to get the word out there. Back to where I said specialist can be considered the network hub, these individuals have connections that go on for miles. You will know many people throughout your career wether they are famous on tv or famous in your field. These connections will be vital for your survival as a specialist.

Public Relations has been around for nearly one hundred years now. Originally PR started in the 1920s by Edward Bernays. Bernay's was the first to develop the public relations profession. Public relations didn't just begin one hundred years ago, it started long ago. Even back to the times of the Romans, they used some sort of public communication to promote news. One empire used coins to promote news on them. Each coin was printed with news on them and they were easily spread to the community. Public Relations is any spread of news. Print like magazines and newspapers are considered public relations. The printing press allowed for this speciality to take it place and grow into the profession it is today.
