Estes Park / Fire

This video shows the hotel in Estes Park, Colorado where hundreds of firefighters stayed during the devastating fires that roared through Rocky Mountain National Park. This hotel is in Estes Park, which is at the foot of the National Park. The area is one of the most beautiful places on the planet--or was. The 2020 fire "blackened 30, 000 acres," according to The National Parks Traveler. Although wildfires can be rejuvenating and healthy, experts believe a natural recovery may not be possible due to changing environmental conditions. In addition to hotter and dryer weather, people have planted invasive plants that might prevent regrowth of native trees and plants. Personally, this makes me so sad. After hiking and resting near the creeks, hanging out in nature, I've never felt more rejuvenated.

Xianhui Shao(Alex): Amazon Rainforest Fire Ruins/Remains

I chose an image of the Amazon rainforest burning because it starkly illustrates the environmental devastation due to deforestation and illegal land clearing. As a result of these artificial activities, vast areas of the forest are dramatically eliminated, leading to significant biodiversity loss and the release of enormous amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This not only impacts local ecosystems but also contributes to global climate change. The burning of the Amazon is a powerful instance of how human actions in the Anthropocene era are accelerating environmental degradation, a consequence that extends far beyond the immediate region.

In this picture, we can see the trash is everywhere. Every year, tens of thousands of tons of garbage float on the ocean. The consequences is that caused many problems for many marine life. We have to devote to maintain the clean environment so that we can coexist with animals.

In this picture , we can see a lot of oil. Oil spill cause a lot of damage to ocean. Because humans are devoted to using ships to deliver goods and consume a lot of oil, oil spills have caused many animals to die. As a consequence, the ocean is not as clean as it used to be. We have to find a new way to deal with this problem.

This is a picture of city sank in water because of the global warming. I chose this picture to remind people that our living place could be in danger due to the people's indifference to the environment. The main consequence of the people's exploitation of nature resource is the sea level raise. High overall temperature of the earth which is the result of humans overusing of the fossil fuel transforms glaciers to the water. People must reduce using fossil fuels to prevent a terrible situation in the photo and be aware of current circumstance of the environment.

This image was taken on a beach in Bali. I chose this image because it clearly shows the environmental damage caused by people carelessly discarding garbage. People litter everywhere, causing garbage to enter the sea, polluting beaches and marine resources, and all marine life are facing serious risks such as poisoning, starvation and suffocation. Marine life such as corals, mangroves and seagrass are also drowned in plastic waste, depriving them of oxygen and light. People should stop discharging garbage into the ocean and increase cleaning efforts so that the environment can recover.

In people's daily life, plastic is a big part. Because plastic has the characteristics of convenience and easy to use, people frequently use plastic products in daily life. The misuse of plastics leads to the white pollution of plastics. Plastic degradation in Anthropocene pried will dramatic increase and will be found in future rock discoveries. However, most plastics will transform to CH4,CO2 and so on, which would be the best evidence for Anthropocene.
