Cependant, ils se sont adaptés. Les habitants construisent des habitations permanentes (maisons, immeubles) ou temporaires (tentes, campements) en plein désert. Certains pratiquent aussi le nomadisme pour s'adapter aux précipitations.

Les États et les entreprises sont parvenus à développer l'agriculture grâce à l'irrigation et le tourisme grâce à la construction d'hôtels. Certaines contraintes sont devenues des atouts.


Irrigation : technique pour acheminer de l'eau vers les cultures.

Nomade : personne ou peuple qui se déplace fréquemment.

Les principales contraintes sont le froid et le relief montagneux qui isolent une grande partie de l’année, la rareté de la terre cultivable et des précipitations.

Afin de surmonter ces nombreuses contraintes naturelles, les habitants ont de nombreuses solutions. Pour lutter contre le froid, leurs maisons ont des murs épais et des toits en paille.

Le Yack est l’animal de survie grâce à sa laine, son lait et sa force pour transporter de lourdes charges. Le tourisme est un moyen de dépasser les contraintes grâce à l’organisation de treks (randonnée pédestre).
