I’m curious to learn the different ways in which countries approach each of these topics, and how leaders of each country create variety between such approaches.

Requires the support of many & varied voices in the community 2. Community Education-must continue to hear, learn & understand the legacy of colonialism. 3. Forms of Reparation takes specific context based on the needs of the requesting body.

4. Public discourse must be frequent & continuous-increases the possibility that local, state. federal officials, religious organizations, corporations etc. learn & respond to the call.

When attempting to understand what Evanston can learn from the world, I think about the following: The sentiment which argues for reparatory justice seems to be unanimous across all of the nations present at this event. Therefore, we must learn to be intolerant of anti reparations sentiments stemming from our own community back home, seeing as that rhetoric is deeply conservative, and contrary to an international movement.

And since we’ve taken a lead locally, we also have the chance to bring nearby communities pursing Reparatory justice together and push for a stronger, regional approach.

Looking at the city, which is vast, and sometimes even overwhelming, this question becomes more clear to me. An important step in the journey of repair is understanding that the violence done against the diaspora is so extensive, that in truth, it can never be fully reconciled. Redress to me, does not mean being blindly optimistic, but rather means to attempt to repair what we can, while understanding that there are always those whose lives will go unaffected by the work being done. Hence the slight semantic paradox present at the site of the question, we technically (cannot) repair the harm that has not yet manifested, however we can work to repair past harm.

A blister (harm) will only fester if not tended to thus 1st we must immediately voice the issue & expect a resolution. We don’t want the harm to become moist or infected. These conditions will only exacerbate the harm often weakening the immune system or our ability to change systems. 2ndly we must strengthen our people by advancing education, cooperation & advocacy .

Lastly, we must pass down through generations just as the book of Genesis suggest ensuring that future generations become better prepared to meet the harms/adversities that will surely come.
