The east India company took over most of India with the huge amount of wealth gained by trading Indian goods. In 1857 Indian rebelled but were quickly shut down within two years. India was very angry as they had to take on new cultures, beliefs and religions. When Britain left India there was a lot of confusion between who to give the power to. The Indians were very angry and rebelled against the British about whom to give the power to. This then caused an outrage with the Muslims and this resulted in 16 million deaths.
